Will this upwards grade trend be recognized?

<p>Hey guys,</p>

<p>I had a question about my grade trend on my transcript.</p>

<p>My grades have been the following: Summer '09 (two A's), Fall '09 (three A's, one W), and Spring '10 (three A's, one B, one W). </p>

<p>As you can see, I've had a lack of commitment the last two semesters because of the W's I've received. I'm not too proud of those, and I felt that have a Withdrawal for two semesters in a row would put me in a bad light. </p>

<p>Therefore, I am currently taking and am about to complete three summer courses (9 units) which is above full-time status (6 units) in order to compensate for my inconsistency during my previous fall and spring semesters.</p>

<p>So my question is... will the admissions officers consider this an upward grade trend, and therefore benefit me (however minuscule the benefit may be) during the admissions process?</p>

<p>Edit: I'm planning to apply to most of the UC's with my main target being Berkeley.</p>

<p>Your grades aren’t even bad! Just make sure you:</p>

<ul>
<li>Complete your English and Math requirements the end of Fall 2010</li>
<li>Get A’s for Fall 2010 because those will be the last grades they will see stamped on your transcript</li>
</ul>

<p>Im kinda in the same situation as you. I heard Ws dont matter for UCs but I dunno if it looks bad for the grade trend thing.</p>

<p>@foothilltransfer, I actually just finished my math requirement and English requirement(s) this summer. Well, today is the last day of my online English course, but yeah whatever lol. </p>

<p>@Cupertinotransfr, yeah that’s what I’m a bit worried about too. Like I said in my original post, I’m scared that the W’s show a lack of commitment, so I decided to "over"commit myself this summer. Hopefully they’ll notice my efforts.</p>

<p>winter session (for semester) is the last time you improve your grades.</p>

<p>A few W’s is no big deal. They understand that sometimes you end up with a crappy professor, or a minor issue prevents giving the class attention. It only becomes a problem if you have W’s every or nearly every semester, or had all W’s for one semester. 2 or 3 spread among different semesters isn’t a problem.</p>

<p>But let’s face it: You won’t have much of an upward trend, because you can’t go up much higher than you are. You have a 3.88 GPA, likely 3.92 after the summer. You’re almost certainly in to almost any major at any UC you want, upward trend or not.</p>
