I was admitted to UCLA’s College of Letters & Science as a Political Science major. My GPA and everything will be fine when I graduate, but I am considering dropping an online course I’ve been taking at Brigham Young University. It is Social and Cultural Anthropology, and it was just an extra class I took to pad my application. I fulfill all requirements without it. However, it turns out this course requires that you have Microsoft Word, and I only have Pages. My parents don’t want to have to pay for Word.
Do you think UCLA will rescind my acceptance if I drop this course? I’m very panicked and all help is appreciated!!!
Lmao no. The course isn’t even relevant to UCLA’s requirement classes. It’s just an outside college course too. Just drop it, notify a change to UCLA and why it changed, and you’ll be fine.
Well be careful, because even though the BYU class is an elective, its still counted and weighed as an honors/AP/“college level” class when you submitted your application. If you decide to drop it, the UCLA officers might think you just listed the class in your application as a way to “appear stronger” than you actually are. Also, If your parents cannot afford Microsoft Word, there is the option of using the free library computers if you decide to continue with this course. Good luck!
