Will UM ask to see my Senior Year grades after I apply

So, I'll be applying early (in about a week) and I'll of course give UMich my Senior Year schedule. Will they ask to see my first trimester grades first before admitting/deffering me? I know the answer is probably yes, but just wanted to make sure...

If you are a borderline candidate, I think they may ask you…If you are deferred, you probably have to send your grades

They only ask if you get deferred. You eventually have to send them senior grades at the end of the year though if you get admitted, and they could rescind your admission if they’re bad…

Right on…thanks guys

Yeah if your deferred they will likely ask for your senior year grades before reviewing anymore, if your admitted they still will likely ask, just maybe towards the end of the year, still prone to be denied.

Yep, if you’re deferred, pretty much 1 C will guarantee you a rejection so we all have to be careful! I don’t play on getting deferred though…:P

1 C doesn’t guarantee a rejection… Anyway just send them your senior grades regardless. Most of the time it can only help your application. You will have to send them your final grades anyway, but your application won’t be rescinded if you have a C, but if you have a D or anything of the sort, your application will be reviewed.

I guess that’s just the trend at our school. We had 47 students apply. 38 were accepted early, and 9 were deferred. Out of the 9 deferred, 4 were let in, but 5 of ended up getting a C or worse, and were rejected.

You should keep your grades high just in case.

ckl, Michigan (and most universities) will ask for your senior grades, regardless fo whether you are admitted early, deferred or accepted in April. Your senior grades cannot drop much from your usual because a university reserves the right to rescind an acceptance if your grades drop significantly. A small drop in grdes (a couple of Bs or a C instead of the usuall straight As will not be a problem, but a bunch of Cs or a D will get you unwanted attantion).

Yea that’s what I was stressing about, because my Calculus teacher effing crazy and I just might get one C this year, and it could be in that class. I think I’ll be fine though if I were fortunate to be admitted. Thanks!

Don’t worry. I got a C + in Calculus the first marking period, but got a B the second marking period. So 1 C won’t warrant much attention from the admissions office. However, like Alexandre said, getting a significantly higher number of C’s and D’s will probably lead to a rejection or getting your APP rescinded. Try to get the highest grades possible. Admissions officers recognize that senior year is stressful.
