I heard some applicants have already received admissions. Did anyone get one?

Applicants selected for the Monroe Scholars Program received their admissions acceptances on Saturday. These came by regular mail. See the “Big White Envelope” thread.

OOS Monroe Scholars have begun receiving their acceptance packages now, as well. My son - Ohio - received his today. See thread as mentioned above.

When will the Non-Monroe Scholars receive their admissions decisions? Does anybody know?

mine came today!

@kayseebeenj
and you were not a Monroe Scholar?

My daughter got hers today with an full tuition and Monroe scholarship.

Congratulations to you and your daughter Kellannah! I’m a student and I got the same package! Awesome feeling, no?

sometime around april 1, maybe earlier if they finish early.

Those of you who got tuition scholarships – that is separate from the Monroe program, but it’s not the Murray Scholarship? Does it have a name?

Any non-scholarship recipients found out so far?

I am also interested in where the tuition scholarships are coming from… for my own curiosity… perhaps they are W&M Scholar Awards?

Any idea how much scholarship money is given to Monroe Scholars or is it based on financial need?

Me too - I know this sounds bad, but given the number of “full tuition” scholarship reports on here, the next time I get a fund-raising call, I think I’m gonna pass.

I’ve contributed 4 years of full-rate tuition, books, and various cash gifts over the years - not to mention state taxes. If the school has this much money to give that many full-ride, non-need-based scholarships, I have to say, I’ve done enough. Call the students / families who got those full-rides for fund-raising, not me.

Monroe Scholars is not a scholarship per se. It is a program, rather like an Honors program, with special housing for Freshman and a $3,000 stipend to be used before your senior year. There is no scholarship money, as such, attached to it.

I’m from Houston and I got my acceptance letter a few days ago. I am also a Monroe Scholar.

you can choose what your money is used for when you donate (if you specify), and you can therefore make sure it goes to something you support whether it is a department, the library, or athletics.

any guess as to when we will find out decisions?

i hope soon!!
