@albo23- I’m an international student from China. So could I know is domestic and international transfer pool are the same process or different?

I know there is a bit of a difference when it comes to freshmen admissions. Regarding transfer admissions, I believe there is no difference between internationals and domestic applicants. I assume you are familiar with the cost of UofM for international students, right?

I know. That’s why I said I would discuss this with my parents if the result is a positive one. Actually the cost should not be a very serious problem or major issue to consider about for my transfer. So at the present what I’m mostly concerned is just waiting for the result.

Ah, good for you then. I wish you the best and I hope we all get in!

I’m interested about the acceptance rate for Winter.

It’s not too late to give them a call!

Thank you! Best wishes to us all!!

@Matisyahu: I guess they would provide a data about the acceptance and enrollment rate later everyone’s result is done. I hope to know do they really view each person’s application with in an ordered rolling basis or just randomly view

@albo, for Pitt’s Econ 1100, which is intermediate micro, we do use partial derivatives and lagrange multiplier which is covered in Calc 3. however, i think calc 1 would be sufficient. But having more calc knowledge helps cos u would be differentiating U(x,y) functions which has 2 variables! kinda easy though if u get the hang of it. Im pretty sure UM teaches the same thing as Pitt. Not sure about the exam difficulty though, so hopefully Anthony can give us some insights about it!

Besides, does U-M view applicants based on their major interests? Would the pool be separated into different colleges’ different majors?

Hey guys, I didn’t get into UM out of high school and I’m a freshman at one of the satellite campuses now. I really want to transfer to Ann Arbor for my junior year, but I was wondering when exactly I would be applying, like would it be next fall or winter, or what?

Also, Michigan doesn’t look at your high school grades anymore if you have 60 credits, correct?

@Ghost93 - From all of the research that I and the other people on this forum have done, it seems that the earliest that someone who did not get in for freshman admission would have a solid chance of getting in, is the Winter Term of their Sophomore year. Michigan takes junior applicants with close to 60 credits first and foremost, and then starts taking strong applicants with slightly less credits. If you have 60+ credits, they will not really look at your high school GPA and test scores at all. However, if you were a strong applicant and could have gotten in for freshman year (if you were wait-listed and whatnot), but didn’t due to the number of applicants, then it can be good for them to see your high school scores.

Sometimes it does take more than 2 tries to get accepted. I know that Albo is on his 3rd attempt right now, and I’ve seen that the closer one gets to 60 credits, the better the chance they have. Anyway, best of luck to you, and I hope that I was able to help.

@megagamerexe - Thanks for the insight. My high school stats were not very impressive, (3.6 GPA, 27 ACT) so I’ll probably just wait it out until I get ≈60 credits.

Good luck everyone!

So could I know do U-M care about 60+ credits more or emphasize on GPA?

It seems that the more credits you have, the lower your GPA can be.
I will have 60+ credits by the end of this semester so I hope it helps me.

I still feel confused about college-unviersity credits transfer. I have taken 23 courses in my college till now, it each of them = 3 units in univ. system, I already have 69 ones

Hey I checked with my college transcript again, it seems I have 63 credis now. Is this a positive side of me?

Yes probably.
Some classes are worth 4 credits though.
Are you in China right now?

Hey guys quick question,
If I’ve applied to UM before as a transfer (didn’t get all my credentials in on time so my app was rescinded), and got a Friend Account to check the status of my application, do I need to create a new one for my application this year? Or can I simply connect this years application with my old Friend Account? I would just create a new one, but I did not send in my SAT scores this year with my app because the admissions office said they still have my scores on file from last year.

Also, what are my chances of acceptance with a ~3.5 GPA from Tulane University (undecided major, but taking a lot premed classes like gen chem, orgo, etc), having obtained 40 credits and attempting another 17 this semester (so by the time I would transfer, I would almost be at that 60 credit mark)? Also, I had a terrible GPA in HS, like a 3.0UW 3.4W, but from a very competitive charter school and with a relatively rigorous academic schedule (at least 10 AP/IB classes). SAT was around the 2100 mark. Do I have a shot?

Are you applying for this Winter or next Fall?
