I applied as a transfer from NY (from a private, four year, liberal arts college), 3.9 cumulative GPA, pretty solid essay, and 43 semester credits (I think that’s about 65 quarter credits?)–that is, I applied with 31 semester credits (46.5 quarter credits)–didn’t submit official test scores because upon calling I was told not to (still very nervous about this). Haven’t heard back yet, but wondering what my chances are looking like. I’m currently an Education major, and have applied for the same program, but I plan to switch later if accepted. Also, planning to live off campus if that makes a difference.
I don’t know if this is valuable information or not, but I can click around the “After Being Admitted” tab, but there is no unofficial transcript uploaded as of now.
Also: on the application, when it says 40 transferrable credits, does that refer to quarter credits?
@gracejacobs GPA is good, but the biggest negative factor you listed was being out of state. UW is heavily biased in favor of instate transfer, due to taxes and what not. It could still be a safe bet seeing as how your GPA is so high, but this will probably come down to your major and how many actual credits you have. I’m not sure if education is competitive, so I’m not sure. You also said you had a good essay, which is a plus. They are really looking for direction in you essay, showing them you have a plan and know every step of it.
If it makes you feel better, nobody has received their letter yet. Seeing as how your in NY, I’m assuming it will take a bit longer for the letter to get there, but IDK. Best of luck =)
I haven’t heard back yet either. I applied to the UW’s Physics department from an in-state community college to study biophysics. I have 117 quarter credits and a 3.91 cumulative GPA. I graduated from CC in June 2016, but I didn’t apply for the Fall admissions because I wanted to take a quarter off to work and save some money for college. Besides the admission decision, I am really worried about my residency status because my parents live overseas. I was classified as an out-of-state student while I was attending CC, even though I am legally a Washington State Resident.
@Shawnk11 It is weird that you were considered out of state when you are a WA resident. Did you apply as a WA state resident for UW? I think you should be fine. Good luck!
Hi, everyone! I just found out that my admission application was updated with a “congratulation” message on the top. XD Hope you guys will hear back soon!
