Winter 2017 Transfer Thread

Thanks for the reply @abgestumpft I think you have a great chance with your high GPA. Maybe we are in the next batch of acceptance letters !!

@abgestumpft yeah I think you should have a good chance. I was told to apply before I get my AA and I did I also have a 3.83 gpa and I got accepted for the winter. I’m also an in state applicant. When I applied I had 55 credits. So we have the same gpa you just have 10 fewer credits.

@summeranne6 and @abgestumpft are you guys checking to see if your unofficial transcript has loaded? A lot of us were able to see our decision before our letters were sent.

Has anyone elses not loaded today? I have not heard anything and I called admissions today and they couldn’t tell me anything they wouldn’t even tell me when I should hear back by. This is so frustrating I really need to start making plans

@bri0717 my transcript hasn’t loaded yet. I JUST called the admission representative and asked if they are still releasing decisions or are they done, she was like, “We are still releasing decisions and will continue till the end of December” :frowning:

@Girlygirl256 yup I just called them too again for the third time today and all they say is they are sending them out through the middle of fricking decemeber. How in the actual hell am I supposed to get ym plans figured out in like two weeks? I’m pissed

@bri0717 I’m pissed off too, I’m stuck between booking a plane ticket or not. I’m also stuck between finding an apartment to live in or not. They say different things all the time. Last week one of them told me if i haven’t heard anything by Friday Dec. 2, they’ll tell me my decision over the “phone”. I’m probably going to call them again tomorrow

@bri0717 @Girlygirl256 Still nothing here either. You’re both out of state, right? I’m in the same situation- not sure if I should book a flight, make moving arrangements, reserve an apartment, etc. It’s incredible to me that they don’t consider how much work it is to pick up and move, especially around the holidays…let alone in less than three weeks. Ugh. Plus it’s probably somewhere upwards of $400 for a plane ticket at this point. Craziness. Any idea when the next batch of decisions will go out?

This is so frustrating!! I’m sick of checking the unofficial transcript page, arrrrrggg. I’m in Seattle so I can’t even imagine what it would be like for you guys from out of state. Are they waiting for people to send in their ‘intent to register’ before they send out new acceptances?? For all you out there that got acceptance letters already, when do they want you to confirm?

@gracejacobs yup, and i live all the way in the South East. I’ve literally told them many times that its not easy to move all my things and that I have to make a lease notice from where I’m at. They’re just like, “yeah we understand you should hear from us soon.” I mean… When is soon exactly?

@summeranne6 they wouldnt even tell us if we’re rejected or on the waitlist. It would be more convienient if they somehow told us we are on the waitlist but unfortunatley, we are all just very clueless.

@Aharris1105 yeah, i have. the unofficial transcript thing doesn’t work for me because in high school i took nonmatriculated UW classes. my registration page still says nonmatriculated and the admissions offer link says there’s nothing. i read on their website you can petition before you’ve heard back yet, so i’m debating doing that.

I will not be attending UW since I was registered as a non-resident student. $110000+ in debt after a bachelors degree is too much…

My letter says respond by Dec.13

I’m so sorry you guys. I hope this wait ends soon

What the heck if the response is by the 13th why havent any of us recieved any decision yet?

I actually went into the admissions. I know it freaking sucks cuz nobody wants to wait and want to know an accurate answer. Anyways I’m a seattle local knowing the ins and outs and it sucks for the out of state students especially cuz of moving arrangements. I know that there were thousands of applicants that are being read with multiple readers. I know this cuz i went into admissions and talked to Carlson(one of the representives). He said that every applicant will get 2-3 reads. Admissions are very busy trying to give everyone a fair chance. Just know that your current application is being read by at least 2 different people rating you for GPA, if ur a 1st generation student(first in family to go to college), and also your personal statement. As of right now admissions aren’t even done reviewing everybody… So the best thing we can do is wait and play it by the ear!

Hi, everyone!

I don’t know if anyone remembers my post from like page 2 (or somewhere around that) but today I found out that I got in! Too bad they waited like 100 years to let me know, and I’ve already accepted admission at Seattle U…tbh, I kinda fell in love with SU, and I got a $10,000 scholarship to help with the costs of attending. I’m considered out of state, even though I’ve been here since August, so I don’t really feel like there’s much of a difference in costs between UW and SU, at least for me. It might even be cheaper to go to SU, since I have that scholarship. But seriously, what the heck…it would have been nice if UW didn’t wait so long to give me an answer. SU got back to me within a week, and now it’s almost December and I’m JUST hearing from UW. I feel like I would have no time to arrange housing and financial aid, etc.

SU being a Jesuit college is the only thing that makes me want to still consider UW…but I feel like it’s too late anyway. Plus, I’m already admitted to my major at SU. The Creative Writing major at UW requires an application and competition. I don’t know if I want to do that lol. But maybe UW has a better program, so that’s why it’s more competitive? At the same time, I think SU’s location is so much better, close to downtown and intersecting so many different parts of Seattle, like the international district, capitol hill, etc.

So thanks a lot UW. You took too long and now I fell in love with another school lol.
Oh and if it makes anyone feel better who’s still waiting to be admitted…I got accepted and my gpa is 3.4 with just under two years of credits, and I’ve only attended one quarter of a WA CC. I have literally no idea why I was accepted. I think the personal statement must help a lot.

Hey I just found this thread, I’m happy to hear that people are beginning to find out if they are accepted or not! Is this message I’ve been reading about in your UWnetid inbox? I’m pretty confused haha.

I’m freaking out so much right now because it would honestly be really really nice and it would save me A LOT of time to know if i got accepted. I’m scared that the admission team at UW is going to send me an acceptance when its like Dec 20 lol but my point is that i cant make a last minute lease notice for my apartment and i cant pack all my things in one day. I also have a car to ship all the from the south east so its really hard to get my shit together in like 1-3 days. And to be honest, i totally respect that the admission team are taking a long time because they have a thousand applicants. But they honestly screwed up because the deadline was sept. 1, why does it seem like they JUST started reviewing applications when they should have started on the 2nd of September? Fall 2017 applications are not even open so i dont understand whats the catch if the only applicants that are allowed to apply for Winter quarter are US applicants. (International students are not allowed to apply for winter quarter.) i am unsure of many things, such as whether booking a plane ticket or not etc. this is unfair, not only for me but i feel very bad for those who live outside of Washington like me. Excuse my frustration or if i sound rude or impatient. I just dont feel like myself and i wanted to get this out of my chest. I know that “waiting” is easier said than done, but at THIS POINT, i honestly dont know what to do.
