It’s not just the decision too. I have been accepted for a week and still haven’t heard anything back from financial aid so they are gonna take time too
I’m not even waiting for a decision but it still makes me angry that they are making you guys wait so long. It’s ridiculous.
@Girlygirl256 I feel that rant so hard, girl. Like I have a cat and I’d be moving with my significant other…and I’d also have to ship a car, gather all of my stuff, and cancel my current lease and start a new one with a different apartment in Washington (not to mention the whole unpacking thing, setting up utilities, changing addresses, and other things along those lines). Like, really?! I know it’s redundant to say all of that at this point, but finals are coming up now and all of this stuff is happening (or at least everything except this UW decision is happening insanely fast), and I’m so stressed out because of the culmination of all of this stuff. Honestly, it would be so much better to just know SOMETHING so that I can either pack, book flights, etc, or not and just focus on what I have to do at the school I’m in now.
I totally feel what you’re saying about how it feels like they’ve JUST started reviewing applications, too. I don’t understand it. Decisions were supposed to be MAILED between November and December, and it’s so paradoxical to me that they respond to in state transfers first…not because they don’t deserve their decisions, but because they don’t really have too far to go, y’know? Don’t get me wrong, I’m really happy for everyone who has gotten in, and I know that they deserve it, but why is it so pertinent for UW to respond to someone who currently lives 20 miles away from the school before someone who currently lives 3,000 miles away from the school? Doesn’t make any sense to me lol
@gracejacobs i do agree that out of state students should have a greater look than local students like me. UW accepts mostly transfer from WA cc. It’s harder for an out of state student to transfer in, but its not impossible. Yes waiting does suck, but deep down if u worked really hard on ur personal statement and have a decent gpa. Carlson(Admissions representive) said he accepted students with 2.6s gpa. Admissions is still reviewing thousands of these applications for a reason and should take their time on picking who gets in and who doesnt!
@tastytran i went to a community college in washington for a year and i have a risdency there but i currently go to school out of state (its been 4 months) so idk if they would classify me as an out of state applicant or in state applicant lol
@gracejacobs yeah i totally get you. I have finals too and all i could think about is doing well on my finals and knowing whether i got in or night. So i pretty much have A LOT on my mind. I just called them for an application status update and the guy checked it for me and was like, “the department is still reviewing your application and at this point we cant do anything other than wait for them to make a decision for you.” I also mentioned that its important that i would know soon so i could make arrangements and he apologized and said that theres nothing they could do other than to wait.
I contracted my advisor and she said it seems i’ve been admitted with a temporary hold. let me in!!!
Today i called the engineering department to ask if they are still releasing decisions (i applied for pre-engineer and one of the admission representatives told me earlier today that they are waiting for them to finalize my application.) Well… He told me that he was going to call the admission office and see what they mean because they don’t release decisions. He called me back and told me, it turns out that someone from the admission team at UW (not the engineering department but the general admission department) was reviewing my application and put my application on HOLD for Fall 2017 because they saw somewhere in my application that I had an interest in studying civil engineering. Although i still have perquisites courses to complete, i would have to apply for fall quarter. It also shows on my transcript that I still need a few courses to complete, so I didn’t get why the person that was reviewing my application didn’t see that i was CLEARLY a pre-engineering student. Well anyway, he basically told me that someone made a mistake and put my application aside for fall 2017 when they weren’t supposed too. He also told me that when he asked one of the representatives to look at my application and why it was taking so long, the representative noticed that someone literally made a mistake of putting my application on hold. So he pretty much told me that (hopefully) in a few days i will be hearing back from them. Sounds very neat and professional, if you ask me lol. Now i understand why my application is taking forever to update.
wow @Girlygirl256. No wonder they were making you wait so long. Glad you checked with them I hope you gear back soon
I am not a transfer student, but I have been following this thread closely because this is the only current admissions thread that isn’t a chance me. I’m irate at the length of this process, as I had applied early to mid August, and still haven’t heard back even though we are nearing December. I am an OOS prospective freshman who has to make a lot of decisions in a very short amount of time. I know I am not alone, but I am so frustrated I want to scream. I have an offer that expires on the 1st at U of Iowa, and while their graduate writing program is unmatched by any other domestic school, I found my heart lusting after Washington, but I don’t know if the feelings are reciprocated. I am about to throw in the towel because all this wait is agonizing, especially when I have to factor in my circumstances. I just needed to vent, because I’m sad.
@Ruberi I’m in sorta the same boat as you are, but I’m in-state. I have another offer including a good scholarship from another school, but I have to reply in a little over a week to claim it. Still hoping to hear back from UW soon, though.
Stay strong man, we’ll get through this together
Hi everyone. Joining in late here. I’m an out of state transfer from Johns Hopkins University looking to get into the neurobiology major/program. I haven’t heard anything back at all at this point and I’m utterly dumbfounded at this entire process. There’s no possible way that I can book a last minute trip to Seattle, so I don’t even care if I’m accepted or not at this point. Which sucks, since I’ve been wanting this for a very long time.
But are there any people out of state that have heard something?
I’m still an in-state four year university transfer and I haven’t heard anything either. I have been calling them and they say basically nothing. “You’ll just have to wait sorry.” So frusterating
@psttt2020 my dad is an alumni of SU and he really enjoyed it.
@UWwinter2017 I think with financial aid they notify you about your awards when it is closer to when we start the quarter so probably mid to late December. For me it says that they have received my FAFSA but I haven’t been awarded yet.
Got my housing assingment!
Has anyone heard anything yet
Crickets. I called today but I was on hold for so long that I hung up. C’mon, admissions, this is crazy
@Girlygirl256 I called today and the girl said that they are going to be sending out their last batch of decisions on this friday and if my account hasnt updated by monday she said to call back and they will most likely be able to tell me over the phone. I asked to look at my account and see if a decision has been made yet and she looked and said she would tell me if there was a decision but she said that nothing has been decided yet for me. I better freaking find out on friday because this is INSANITY the way they run their admissions. Every other school manages to “take their time” and be thorough and it doesn’t take this long. Hire some more people to work in the admissions office so it doesnt take fi ve years for people to find out. I bet they blew it with about half of the people that got accepted simply because they took so long to tell them. People need to make plans. If i don’t find out by the end of the week I have to pay a 5,000 dollar fine to my current living situation for “backing out last minute”… this is so frustrating I can’t even explain…
@bri0717 yeah i understand. I’m literally on the same boat as you. They probably should havw hired more people to work in the admission team because they honestly screwed up. Decisions were supposed to be made by November. I also find it a bit strange that when I called them about a week ago she told me that if i havent heard anything by this friday, i can call in like 2 days and they said they would “tell me” my decision over the phone. I mean, i really hope we both get accepted because honestly, i’m really stressed out. I have finals, work, and UW decision on my mind. I also hope for those who still havent heard from UW would get accepted too because they deserve it after waiting for so long. Even us.
@Aharris1105 Yeah, I absolutely love SU, especially the location. And I like how the campus is a lot smaller than UW. I’m just afraid of fitting in at SU, since I’m not a religious person. Do you know if the school is relaxed about it?
