Hey! I’m currently a first year at cc, and in preparation for transfer to the UC’s in around a year I had some questions that I hope can be clarified. I recently had a professor unfortunately lose her husband in the middle of semester, and during this corona pandemic, so in her abrupt absence the class was taken over by a professor who doesn’t really know the subject that well, and is horrible at responding and teaching the class online. Evidently, my grade started to slip, and in efforts to preserve my high GPA I decided to withdrawal from this class. Will this negatively affect my chances with UCLA?
Secondly, i’m currently calculating my final UC GPA (predicting all my future grades go according to plan) and I was wondering if the grades you obtain in the spring semester (semester before I would transfer) grades will be taken into account in my GPA. I plan on having all of my major requirements for an English major completed by then, but just want to know if it will impact my GPA. Thank you!
Usually grades until the fall semester before you transfer are only taken into consideration for admission (for example if you were applying to transfer for the Fall 2021 quarter, then Fall 2020 would be the last semester your grades will matter) after that it’s up to each school’s provisional contract
If you just have a couple Ws it won’t hurt you but if you have an excessive number of Ws it will look bad
@Aduffey414 first, I though most colleges were doing P/NP. If that was the case you would have been better off not dropping.
Next, a W will not affect your admission.
Lastly, the UCs only count GPA through the fall when you apply.
Thank you so much for your help!!
Makes total sense now, Thank you so much!
