So the title may be a bit confusing, but I'll explain my situation. I was just admitted to my first choice EA, so have no obligation to withdraw any of my applications, but would like to do so for all expect three schools (who I'm waiting on scholarship info for). Hoping to save money if I got in, I haven't submitted any part of the common application to the other schools I was planning to apply to, but sent my counselor recommendation and test scores to all of them, so I think they'll have me on some sort of file. My question: should I do what one would regularly do when withdrawing apps, ie contacting the admission office directly and letting them know that I've had an early acceptance and won't be applying? Is an email usually enough for this? Sorry if this isn't completely clear, it's pretty late.

You don’t have to notify them at all since you had an EA, not an ED admittance. Many students start applications to colleges but don’t finish them because the students change their minds for various reasons.

Like Northstarmom said, you’re under no obligation to tell them… but as I myself have worked in a college’s admissions office, it was always nice when I was told I can pull/discard a file of someone who withdrew their app. Gotta make room on the shelves! Good luck.

Thanks for the replies
