Withdrawing from a (irrelevant to major) course. Does that influence transfer chances?

Hi,

I am currently a college freshman who is planning to transfer this year. I currently take 5 academic classes, one of which is music. Although, I’m getting pretty good grades in music (mostly As), I literally don’t understand anything. Even tho music is supposed to be considered a “easier” class, I have to study extensively for it due to my prior inexposure to music-related courses. Right now, although i’m getting good grades in the class, I want to withdraw from the class because its too timing consuming for someone who doesn’t understand the concepts very well and also because it has absolutely nothing to do with my intended major.
Do you guys think withdrawing from music, in my situation, would be wise? Would it affect transfer chances (since I’m only a college freshman-would have a less courses/evidence to prove my academic progression)?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

No, you should withdraw. That leaves you with a less than full courseload, but a load similar to what many take freshman year first semester.

If you think it’s not worth the timesink it’s becoming, then you should withdraw. You should definitely be focusing on your core major courses, and if music is deviating some of that time, then you should definitely consider withdrawing.

I completely agree with the other posters. One W is not going to make an impact, anyway.
