Son received an email on Friday asking whether or not he was still interested in attending W&M. It was his first choice, so yes, he was most definitely still interested. His “Good Things” email came in last night. To say “he’s excited” is a gross understatement.

It’s wonderful that W&M Admissions monitors this board and keeps everyone up-to-date on the latest.

hey Wmadmission. I got the stafford loan for my FA and I was wondering when is the loan counseling due because I go to a boarding school and my mom wanted to fill it out with me. I should be home by sunday though. Thank you for your time

W&M Admission do you have any numerical update you can give us? i know the most recent blog ([W&M Blogs » Admission](http://blogs.wm.edu/category/admission/)) says it is down to a case-by-case basis, does that mean that W&M is only looking to fill around 0-20ish more spots, if any?

@CollegeGeek, there’s really no way to answer that. It may very well be that once we hear back from those who have been made offers, we’ll find many will decline our offer and then we’ll be able to go out with another “wave”. It’s also possible a school will activate its waitlist and that will cause some students who were confirmed for W&M to go elsewhere allowing for another “wave”. That’s why we keep saying the numbers are always in flux.

Our two latest Admit It! blogs (blogs.wm.edu/author/admiss) provide updates on both our freshman and transfer waitlists. Our freshman class is currently full. All remaining on the freshman waitlist were emailed on Tuesday. That email allows you to complete an online form and remain on the waitlist until August should we be able to admit any additional students. We will likely begin admitting some students from the transfer waitlist next week.

My child is on the wait list and has decided to take a gap year year working in an inner city school and running an after school program. Can a Reopen Applicant apply early decision in the fall for the class of 2018 or must the application be for regular decision?

I just finished my junior year in HS and I am new to CC and to this thread. I am sorry if this information was posted earlier: what was the acceptance rate for the incoming freshman class? I am very interested in W&M as an OOS student, and should be coming to visit in July. Is it more difficult fot the OOS applicant to be accepted to W&M, as is the case for UVA? Thank you for your help.

@hoopster14, we admitted about 33% of the students who applied last year. The admit rate is a bit higher for in-state students, a bit lower for out-of-state students. As a public university, we have more spaces in our class for in-state students and therefore it is more competitive for out-of-state students, but far from impossible.

Have you registered for a tour and interview in July? Definitely make the most of our your visit.
