worried ED applicant

whoa since when is p.iss censored?

^ haha CC sure is weird. You cant qoute and now they have removed the quote link completely!

I was thinking of starting another board, but yeah thats a different story.

i havent heard anything yet. should i be worried? i know i sent everything in on time...

"Should I be worried?"

What good will that do?

I guess what that question really means is, "I'm worried. Someone reassure me."

When exactly do the admissions staff begin reviewing the applications? Or have they already started doing so?

CProspect, I take your word for it. I will be resending things only after the review email comes. I just hope they accept it.

Regarding couriers, I heard you have to name a specific person who will receive our package. Office of Admissions, Dartmouth College would be too ambiguous and those ppl at the courier service wont accept to deliver such packets. These are thing I have heard. Could anyone please confirm or contradict?

^ I didnt name anyone specifically. And they have got my app. Yep I DHLed it.

sameer - if this is for ED, and they don't receive your first packet, I suggest applying online at commonapp.org, and asking your school if they would fax the school report and teacher rec's. The latter are the only parts that need to be submitted on paper, and it seems that Dartmouth would be willing to work with you on this problem once they emerge from the pile of applications they're sorting.

I live in philly and Dartmouth told me that they received all of my materials, and they also said that all applicants get interviews (ED btw). I haven't been contacted yet. It would be nice to get an interview, I hope i get one.

Guys stop fretting over this. You guys get notified on Dec 15 right? They'll be working on early applications until two days before then, that's when schools finalize their early results so as long as your interviewer submits the report a week before then, it will be considered. Also consider how busy these alumni are (which is a good thing in my opinion cause it puts things in perspective). My interviewer was a vice president at a consulting firm in New York. We had the interview in her company's conference room (60 something floor right next to Grand Central) during her lunch hour because that was the only time she had. I was really nervous but she was such a sweetheart and we still keep in touch today. So don't think of your interview as something that must be done for admissions, think of it as networking and enjoy it because the alumni who want to be interviewers are really interesting people.

If it is any consolation the interview plays virtually a very miniscule role in the admissions process at dartmouth. Alumni responses are generally all positive so it is hard for the adcoms to take what they say with too much authority.

if it helps i was just contacted a few days ago for my interview
