Worried for being rescinded to UCSD

I just got admitted to UCSD, but due to unexpected problems I was unable to finish 2 of my planned courses (I didn’t receive a W). One of which was required for my major. I was unable to take it because 1 month into the course, nothing was being taught or done and I found out that it was because the teacher got sick (probably Covid related). His class was dropped and I wasn’t able to take it the spring before transfer. Will missing one required course affect my acceptance to UCSD? Thank you for your time.

I’d call admissions and explain what happened. It was out of your control and too late to do anything to mitigate it. @Gumbymom might have insight too. She’s very familiar with CA schools.

You probably need to ask UCSD directly. It would also have been better to ask as soon as you knew that the instructor of the course was unable to complete the course, rather than waiting until now.

It happened mid last month but yeah, I should’ve done it beforehand. I am still planning on taking it, will taking it this summer help the problem or is it still late?

Normally, not completing a “required” course by spring is a problem. But you need to find out directly from UCSD whether this circumstance beyond your control would allow for an exemption (especially if you complete it during the summer).

You have been given good advice by several of the CC posters so as long as you reach out to UCSD admissions and let them know you are willing to take the course during the summer, they will probably be lenient and understanding. Please update once you get an answer from UCSD.

Best of luck.
