No kidding. My good friend thought I was going to Harvard for about two weeks …

Case Western Reserve University.

LOL at Brigham Young. Bring-em young eh?

I agree with those who dislike the colleges with similar names. Cornell college almost fooled me, when I was selecting colleges on the CommonApp.

CUNY.

It’s one letter away from a horrible mass email mistake. Being so close to the letter “Y” on a keyboard doesn’t help either.

^ lol but I think The City College of New York is worst because everyone usually tells me , “which one?” URGH!!! It’s THE City College of New York, okay? That’s the name. It’s not CUNY LOL.

Well I checked USNWR and my winners are Tufts, Hofstra, Pace, Biola, Immaculata, Oral Roberts, Bryn Mawr, St. Olaf, Wabash, Kalamazoo, Gonzaga, Goucher, Fisk, Lycoming, Goshen, Hiram, Oglethorpe, Ripon, Ferum, Lambuth, Tougaloo, Excelsior, Assumption, Converse, Lipscomb, Bucknell, Drury, Otterbein, Muskingum, Ursuline, Ursinus, Walla Walla(this sounds very cute, but it is not suitable for a university IMO), Sonoma, Holy Family, Touro, Bowie, Husson, Nyack, Pfeiffer(nothing personal, Michelle!), Tusculum, Viterbo, Cardinal Stritch, Maharishi, Skidmore…
And many more…

Kalamazoo!
For some reason, it always reminds me of that kids show, Zooboomafoo! Or something like that. lol

Oglethorpe, just too weird
Also, Ferrum College, sound like Iron in the periodic table

Morehead State. One of my hs friends came home from a visit there with a t shirt and I couldn’t control my laughter

THE Ohio State University

Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. I can’t tell if that’s the worst or the best.

I’ve got a sister at Tufts, and yes, the name is rough. My other sister is going to Barnard, and when she tells people they think she’s going to “Barnyard”.

Colgate, American University…

Brown. I don’t like it. It just sounds so plain and boring.

Two of them were formerly all women’s colleges that since changed their names:

Beaver College and Marymount College.

Beaver College used to sell tons of T-shirts, that people bought as jokes. They are now “Arcadia University” (which puts them towards the front in alphabetical lists of colleges, like AAA Roofing in the yellow pages).

My thoughts exactly.

St. Olaf’s reminds me of the Great Gatsby because Jay Gatsby went there for a little…
and I think “Bob Jones” sounds awful. I literally see this racist fat white man when I hear that–which actually isn’t that far from the truth.

I hate Binghamton because everyone mispronounces my name and thinks it’s Bingham.

Furman University (Everyone gets shirts that say “FU” and the joke is that they’re the Furman University Christian Knights…) Oh and Bob Jones University (BJU anyone?)

Mount Holyoke is one that I always found weird…

St. Olafs (Golden Girls fan here:p)
Kalamazoo

And I’ve never liked the name Clemson. Reminds me of fruit & that makes me hungry:(

I don’t know, the OP has a worse name than any college.

St. Olaf reminds me of Count Olaf from A Series of Unfortunate Events.
