I really like Janes Madison University, and I think that's where I want to go. My only problem is, I am from Minnesota and I don't know if I will fit in in Virginia. Can anyone help me?

why don’t you ask this over at the JMU forum, OP? There will be more people familiar with JMU there.

What do you like about JMU?
What year are you?
What are your stats?
How much can your parents afford?
Help us provide you with the information you need :)

You would be fine at JMU. My daughter just graduated from there last year. We are from Pennsylvania, so she was initially concerned that it would be “too southern”. However, most of the students are from Northern Virginia, which is certainly not southern. She loved her time at JMU and had a wonderful experience. Also important - she now has a great job!

BlueHen89- what was her major?

She was a finance major. JMU has an excellent business program.

Thanks!

I am from Massachusetts and there are a lot of people every year from my school that go to JMU and love it. I wouldn’t be too worried about it.

I’m sure you would fit in at JMU, the people there are incredibly friendly and they looooooooooooove their school. You’ll be walking around campus and a student will yell “J!-M!-U!” and everyone kneels down and goes “duuuuuuuukes” It’s a fun school, big on sports, I’ve heard the parties are crazy, and it’s big enough (18k) where you can easily find your niche. When I toured, I saw a ton of girls in north faces, yoga pants, and uggs, a ton of guys in north faces, flannels, work out clothes, everyone seemed to be into something. You’ll easily be able to find your niche.
