I had Tuesday's off last semester, and it really helped me psychologically. After my classes on Monday in my head, I knew I only had three days of classes left and this totally elevated my spirits for the rest of the week (sad, I know).

Now this upcoming semester, I have the opportunity to either take Tuesdays or Thursdays off. What day do you think I should take off?

Tuesdays: Things get pretty hectic the first half of the week, so I think this might be better for me.

Thursdays: Tests usually come on Fridays, so this will give me a full day of studying or doing whatever I want, but I feel like the break is coming way too late in the week since most of the work happens during the first half of the week period.

It seems like you have already answered your own question. But if I had to choose, I would pick Tuesday. In my experience, more work is assigned at the beginning of the week.

I’d prefer Thursday off just because I can kinda start my weekend then. I only have one class on Friday (an hour long) so that’s nothing major. It’d be sweet to basically have Thurs-Sun of no classes.

If you have Fridays off, you would get a four day weekend. Tuesday would be jarring for me- to start school, stop, then go back would just feel awkward.

Yeah, a lot of peers have Fridays off, but to be honest, I’d rather have a day off in the middle of the week than to have a three-day weekend. A break in the middle of a week is so helpful and anyone that has had one will tell you.

If you a lot of classes Friday then Tuesday might be better. I think I never really had classes on Thursday last year and I never wanted to go to class Friday after having that day off and knowing I’d have the next day off :)

I had Thursdays off for both semesters this past year and it was really helpful for me. I would wake up early, go to the music building for a couple hours, get my reading for Friday out of the way, and complete any assignments that were due between then and Monday. It also gave me a lot of time to practice Spanish without the work piling up like it did on Tuesdays.

This last semester I had Fridays off. I got all A’s in every single one of my classes. It was the first time I made my college’s president’s list.

If I had to choose between Tues. and Thurs., I would pick to have Thursday off. I feel like Tuesday is too soon, you know? I would get a day off by the time I got into my weekly groove.

I happen to have Tuesdays off next semester, but actually think that it will work a lot better for my studying skills. When I had Fridays off last semester, I became a little too complacent with my three-day long break, and ended up pulling off quite a few all-nighters for papers and exams. I just got so used to not having class for three days straight that I lost a little motivation to get work done over most of the weekend. With the schedule I have now, I think that having one free day in the middle of the week will allow me to get a lot more work done for my jam-packed Mondays and Wednesdays.

But obviously everybody has different studying styles, so this may not work for you.
