WRIT-140 + English Major Course

Hey. I was wondering if anyone could help me out on an issue I had with my Spring '10 schedule.

I registered for Los Angeles and the American Dream (GE 6) with the Writing 140 course. My counselor advised me to take a course from the English department for me to get going on my major, but I haven't registered yet because I'm worried that the workload would be too much with two writing classes in one semester.

Here's what my schedule would look like if I do decide on taking the class:
GEOG-100gm (Los Angeles and the American Dream)
WRIT-140
COMM-200 (Communications and Social Science)
ENGL-262 (English Literature since 1800)

What do you guys think?

WRIT-140 requires about 36 pages of high quality, polished writing, which is IMHO quite a bit. But if you’re an efficient writer and enjoy writing, it might be manageable.

All GE classes like GEOG-100 require around 12-15 pages of writing, depending, so account for that too.

16 credits? Pah, piece of cake. Besides, you need at least 14 credits to be a full time student.

Also, if you haven’t registered yet you’d better get on it. Do you know if you can even get into those classes you want?

I’m not fretting over taking four classes - I’m worried that an English class would be overkill taken with a Writing 140 course that I heard was pretty tough. I’ve been through this process before … I’d be an idiot not to have registered for classes already.

I think you’ll be perfectly fine with that schedule. The only person who might have issues is someone who is not very fond of writing. But as an English major, you must be good at it/ like it. I kinda had to deal with the same kind of thing last semester.
And just fyi, you only need 12 units to be considered a full time student.
Also, who’s your prof for engl 262. I’ll be in freeman’s class.

Yeah, full time is 12 units. Tuition pays for 12-18.
