Writing a "farewell" address to my graduating class.

Along with the valedictory and salutatorian speeches, two other students are permitted to speak at graduation. I'd like to apply for a spot. I have a general idea of what my essay should be about. This year's theme is:

"Consult not your fears but your hopes and dreams. Think not about your frustrations but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what is still possible."

I would like some opinions on what to touch upon that echoes the statement above.

Do you have any idea of where you want to take this? It seems silly to apply for the opportunity to make a speech if you aren’t compelled to write your own.

I have some ideas.

That quote is pretty vague - it’s basically asking you to speak about the future and unlimited possiblities. Maybe try to think of something from your personal experience or something real that motivated and inspired you that you can use in your speech to inspire others. Being specific is always good. Just write from the heart.
