Writing Placement Essay

I saw online that we don't have to write the essay if we get a 3 or better on the AP English exam. I'm taking AP English this year, though, so I won't know my grade until July. I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to get at least a 3, but should I do the placement essay anyway?

Yes, do the essay. The AP grade will likely supersede the essay score, but do it just in case.

does that also apply to calculus AB or do i have to take AP BC in order to get credit...

is it true that i need to get a 4 on AB inorder to get my credit as well as Macro/Micro??

At least a 3 on any of the AP Exams will give you some credit. In a lot of cases, a 4 or 5 will give you more credit, but a 3 is always good for at least three credits, depending on the exam. The full chart is in the undergrad bulletin (on page 24).

I already know my AP English score, is there any reason to take the placement exam?

Generally, we require everyone to take the placement exams, both math and writing. Technically, if we have the AP score, it can override the writing exam, but you could also place higher on the exam than you can with the AP score... which is why we generally require everyone to just take both exams.
