WUSTL 2019 RD

I didn’t interview but I visited and met with the Choral Director who had me sing for her and wrote me a recommendation.

@tonroxmysox I just emailed my admissions counselor with the essay. And if you sign up for a campus visit, you can check a box requesting an interview. For local, I just got emailed for an opportunity for an interview

whoops, @waffles1234, sorry tonroxsox

@Epicorangeninja Who did you email and how did you find the alumni list?

@waffles1234 for interview or essay?

@Epicorangeninja Interview

So are decisions forsure coming out tommorrow?

@waffles1234 I think its a little to late now, but for the interview, I never actually sent an email requesting one. I just got a random email from WashU and it said that there was an opportunity to have an interview. I clicked the link for that and signed up and did my interview.

@tonroxmysox‌ Are you Blair? That’s brilliant you sang at an informational interview - what a great idea. Always better live than in a tape. Stanford offers live auditions for their arts supp, and that was a fantastic experience for the kids.

@waffles1234‌ S submitted app mid Nov., received a generic form e-mail mid Dec from APAP (alumni interview program) about a date in jan where they were conducting local interviews. there was a sign up. interviewed in Jan. Interestingly, though, my S had friends who never received that e-mail. Additionally, even after he received a confirmation e-mail from WUSTL that his app was complete, he also received e-mails reminding him to submit his Common App before the deadline. It is almost like he has 2 profiles. there. Now that I read through all the posts about demonstrated interest, i believe we should have addressed that head on – maybe his demonstrated interest is in one profile, and his app in another. Who knows.

@Epicorangeninja Oh lol, I never got the link to interview. I think people in my area didn’t get it either.

I was never asked for an interview either.

@momtwo2 what is Blair?

@waffles1234 well, at least you have an excuse for that. Maybe there weren’t many alumni in your area? Did you visit campus?

@Epicorangeninja No, since my parents said that the plane tickets are too expensive. I went to every info session and talk to the admission counselor who came to my school during college fair though. I made sure I put my name down every time.

@waffles1234 Okay, well that’s good. WashU should, hopefully, take each individual’s situation into account as well when determining demonstrated interest.

@tonroxmysox‌ oh so sorry. wrong school…. music school at Vandy. sorry. I think it is absolutely AWESOME that the choral director would have you sing. what an excellent opportunity.

@momtwo2 hopefully it really helps. I need it to compensate for my 2120 SAT, although my GPA is very good.

@tonroxmysox‌ here’s hoping arts and good grades prevail over standardized testing! Let me know if you get in! Good luck :wink:

DD’s only hope of getting in is her standardized test score @MomTwo2 lol :wink:

@gettingaclue‌ okay… so now I’ve gone and done it. ;-( sorry…. My S has scores, grades, arts and EC…… but no demonstrated interest. hmmm… I guess I can only say: I hope you end up at the best college for you - which is the best fit…. ?? I tried :cold_sweat:
