@Momster1 Congrats! Give your son a high five for me.
sooo, this is gonna sound like a really weird question, but…if I got accepted by Wash U, should I expect to get rejected by the ivies because Wash U waitlists top applicants?
@fdizzle Nonsense. You’ve just been accepted to one of the top universities in the US. Obviously there are several merits to you as an applicant that would make you quite competitive at the Ivy’s.
@korboy Thanks! I was actually pretty worried about that, but I hope you’re right. I guess we’ll find out soon enough!
@fdizzle and others, why do u say WashU wait lists top applicants (IvyBound)?
Rejected! On to the next one
There are plenty of people with top grades and scores on either side of the acceptance/waitlist line. In some cases, the deciding factor may have been demonstrated interest. In other cases, we just can’t know. When you are #14 in the country, there are undoubtedly more phenomenal candidates than you can accommodate, and you get the luxury of choice (and sometimes choice is random). But scanning the results thread, you will see kids who got Ivy likelies. So your fears are misplaced.
Thanks, @Marisa58
@AlaskaDadster Thank you! Here’s one more question: Did he received the financial aid document via mail or email?
@mhuelvis: I don’t recall the exact sequence, but I believe he got notification both in email (to check their financial aid site which will have the award info online) and hard copy snail mail. I expect we will hear within a day or two.
got another two to three months of waiting to see if I get a spot from the wait list. haha congrats to everyone who made it and good luck to everyone else!
Wait listed =((
Does that basically mean rejected?
Wait-listed here.

I was hoping to get accepted. Many students in my high school with similar or lower stats got accepted in the past years, but why not me? Maybe because I applied for FA? My essay definitely hinted my family’s poor fiance, does that influence the decision.
Anyway, I am not hurt that much, as I got accepted in a flagship state university, with generous merit scholarships covering more than the cost of attendance already.
I also got a likely letter from Dartmouth.
I received my financial aid award today which i’m super pleased about because it’s approx 50k a year and as an undocumented (international) student i was expecting zilch so yay thanks wash u, but my question was (if anyone here knows) how easy is it to renew this award because like if it isn’t guaranteed then i’ll probably choose vanderbilt, which offered me the same amount guaranteed for 4 years (merit scholarship). do you know if fa changes a lot year to year at wustl
Has anyone received general financial aid info yet? Aside from their major merit scholarship stuff?
@innocentwanderer mine was the general financial aid info. i received my acceptance packet and everything in the mail today
@lmaobakwaas ahh ok ty!
ACCEPTED YEET!
@AlaskaDadster Thank you!
@Imaobakwaas How did they sent out the acceptance packet? Which express did they use?
