Congrats to you. A little confused on my decision. Rejected but accepted to UVa (as scholar) and Emory (as full-tuition scholarship finalist)
This was posted on a Duke thread, so it relates specifically to Duke, BUT the dean’s explanation really does help us to begin to understand this and many other “unexplainables.” It seems that after an initial threshold is met, it really is about fit, as perceived by the reader(s)/committee, based on what they have in front of them at the time. I know a kid who was admitted Stanford SCEA, finalist for a full ride at a different school, accepted Wash U, but was not an Emory Scholar finalist. @msmithcollege congrats on the affirmations you have received.
Thank you so much! And thanks for the article.
Accepted, see my thread for stats!
@lmaobakwaas: WashU will meet need for all 4 years. In some cases FA went up for people I knew when their circumstances changed. From the admission site: "In general, your award will remain the same or increase from year to year, as long as your family’s FAFSA information remains relatively consistent. "
Waitlisted, but congrats to everyone who was accepted!~
I’m waitlisted too… Does this basically mean I’m rejected???
@leahleah Depends on what the class is like after May 1. Really hard to say.
So is there any admitted international applicant who has received WUSTL’s offer package?
@Estelle0719 I received mine but it really cannot cover my need.
@Estelle0719 Oh I misunderstood… You mean the admission package sent by UPS express… Still not.
@Estelle0719 just received mine a couple of minutes ago
@DougNguyen Where are you from? When is the package sent out and is there something called “Shipment Reference” on the package? I am trying to track mine. Thank you!
NVM.
@mhuelvis I got my acceptance via a 2 day express UPS envelope. I received tracking info by email.
@FlapEardKnave I didn’t receive my tracking info… Is there something called “Shipment Reference” on the package?
Yes I live in asia and I have mine! I received it yesterday
Someone on the wait list will get the spot my son had in CAS. The financial aid is a joke. Since they want the parents to use every last dollar from retirement accounts, we might as well use it for MIT as costs are around the same and kid got in both.
How common is it for the acceptance letter to include a travel grant where WUSTL pays travel expenses related to the student campus visit?
@MomTwo2
A good friend of mine received this in addition to a 33,000/year scholarship. She was also invited to a dinner where she’ll be eating with some faculty members I believe.
