Hey everyone! I have been wait listed by Yale for the class of 2018. While I have been doing a lot of research on what to do after you have been wait-listed, I had one question whose answer I could not find.

Should I contact my interviewer and ask him to write an email to the admissions office on my behalf? Should I request him to (once again) write about his impression of me , just to give my application an extra push? Why he thinks I am a good fit for Yale, as much as he could gather from our interaction and his notes about me during the interview ?

I don't know if this is appropriate or not. So I was wondering if other previously wait-listed users on CC could shed some light on this. Also could @T264E share his or her vast experience on this matter?

Actually, I’m going to move both these WL threads to the main forum as that’s where they belong (the 2018 subforum is for matriculating students) and they will be more visible there.

@Sophie1295: My opinion only. If I had written a positive report for you, and you got on the WL, I don’t think Yale would care one way or another my (as an interviewer) additional appeal. After all, I only met you for 45-60 mins. I don’t know which of my interviewees this year have been waitlisted (I’ll find out on the 1st), but I would decline such a request. That’s me though.

@entomom Thank you @T264E oh…ok…most probably I’m email my interview and if he is of the same opinion as you, then that’s alright. At the worst , he will refuse not to do so. I was just hoping for ANY thing that could help my application. It’s a long shot , but I don’t want to lose hope. Thank you so much for your help! I’ll think about contacting my interviewer again keeping in mind your advice :)

An additional letter from your interviewer, who has known you for 1 hour, is not going to put you on a short list, no matter how highly they thought of you. You’re not thinking clearly Sophie. You’d be better off having the principal of your school, one of your teachers, or your guidance counselor, all of whom have known you for 3+ years, make the push in a supplemental letter!

Oh, ok. I’ll send an additional recommendation I was not allowed to in the Common App. Or maybe ask my counselor to do so too.
Yeah, I guess any far fetched idea seems feasible when you don’t get through your dream schools. Anyway, thank you @gibby! I appreciate it.
