same here ^…i dont think their supposed to know any of your scores

Entomom, Duke hasn’t released the official decision date yet. I will post on this thread once I know.

Any Cognitive Science applicants? :D

dude, I want my interviewer to be my awesome young aunt or something. we chatted for more than an hour about mariokart and pizza.

I don’t think they can’t ask for your scores. A few of my other interviewers asked the same thing. It wasn’t bad, imo, but I could see it being bad for people with lower scores.

I had a skype interview (with a former admissions officer) because there were no representatives in my area. He said Yale interviews usually take half-an-hour, and that’s how long mine was. Now I’m kind of worried…

@collegeinfo1994:
I’m basically a cognitive science prospie. I’m leaning towards “neuroscience”, so I think CS is the closest thing Yale offers that aligns with my interests.

^same here about neuroscience! Did you apply under Biology or Cognitive Science? I had a really hard time deciding.

I think I did Cognitive Science?
But I also indicated interest in Pre-med, so hopefully that went both ways, haha.

As did I. If you choose to concentrate on Neuroscience, a lot of the courses overlap between the two departments. At least Cognitive Science isn’t as trite as Biology when it comes to intended field of study, right? I doubt it matters much, though.

Yeah, one of the many reasons I love Neuroscience. It just offers a different, more invigorating flavour that gets me on the same path I’m aiming for: medical school.

my interviewer saw my gpa and stuff. depends on the school tho. I know that for
princeton their not supposed too… or I think?

exactly, classicgirll! I love all sciences, so the fact that neuroscience bridges so many disciplines really makes it stand out :)

My thinking exactly!
I love interdisciplinary studies, and the fact that the brain can be studied through so many different fields - philosophy, biology, psychology, to name a very select few - just makes it so appealing. And I love how it commands relevance in ALL fields too.

^YES!
Have you read any abstracts on sciencedaily.com? There are many neuroscience ones and just seeing all the discovery that’s happening right now…SO cool. Such a sizzling field for research–can’t wait for college!

Haha, hell yeah. I spend a lot of my time reading about research going on in the field. One of my favourites was a study linking reading great literature to increased, more tuned brain function.

But I haven’t checked out ScienceDaily - I’ll be sure to, though!

1 week left! Sorry to change topics; I don’t know much about neuroscience… maybe I could take a class at Yale and learn some ;)

Let’s see… anybody like math or music?

I know it’s hard to tell from my username but I really like math I also love literature.

Depends what kind of math. I’m taking statistics right now and it is incredibly boring. I enjoyed multivariable calc though.

What do you guys do for fun outside of ECs?

I love music - studied it for 8 years in high school - clarinet and piano (classical). But I also like jazz and rock very much.

Anyway, I’m hoping to be a psychology major.
