@stupiddorkyidiot- don’t sweat it too much. I put in the short “why Yale?” Essay that I planned to minor in playwriting, and Yale doesn’t offer minors They sent me a likely letter anyways, so I don’t think they care too much about screw ups.

Ha! Thanks for the reassurance. I went back and reread mine a few days ago, and I cringed at how generic it sounded. Well, c’est la vie. T-minus less than four weeks!

On another note, I’m beginning to realize that the “second-semester senior” hype isn’t really a hype at all… on the contrary, I’m beginning to be crushed by schoolwork. Fun stuff. How’s everyone else doing?

^Tell me about it. I’m a little annoyed the teachers are actually getting harder. I guess I’ll look at it in another perspective: that it’s busywork to ease our anxieties from contemplating about Judgment Day.

Other than that, fantastic. I agreed to go to my friend’s house when the day comes so we can check our decisions at the same time. That way, we’ll both have buddies to jump with or shoulders to cry on.

AP Microecon is ruining my life with work. It’s a three-month class since the first semester was AP US GoPo and we stop in April to review both, so it’s so insanely fast-paced.

On the upside, being busy does make the wait go by faster.

@Juvenis, I wish I had a friend to commiserate with about the whole process. None of my friends are applying to top schools, and they think I’m not qualified to worry about college because they assume I’m going to get in everywhere. If only they knew… But I guess that’s why I’m here on CC, lol.

I agree that being busier makes time go by faster! That’s the upside. But I’m not gonna lie, I’m really looking forward to getting AP tests over with.

^ I totally get what you mean. There typically aren’t applicants to top schools from my schools and my friends all think I’m going to be accepted everywhere. Oh, CC. Only you understand.

March is going to be a rough month. At my school, we have at least one day off every month but for March, our day off is the last day of the month which is no help at all in my opinion…ap physics is kicking my butt right now. My teacher gives us a lecture everyday on how our work ethic has just sucked since second semester started but the material has actually gotten harder!

I actually have spring break during the week of decisions. It’s going to be so nerve wrecking to be waiting those last few days.

^ oh my gosh, that sounds terrifying. My spring break is in mid-April, so I’ll probably be using it to visit schools.

Not to count my chickens or anything, but has anyone thought about the logistics of getting to various prefrosh programs? I’m not super thrilled about missing school in the weeks before AP tests…

@satellitemind, I have spring break during decision week, too. I actually think it will be nice – I’ll be able to take a break from everything and kind of mentally prepare myself for whatever happens.

@lucya01995, March (well, spring in general) does seem quite difficult. Where I’m from, a lot of EC activities get really busy around now. I also definitely know what you mean about AP Physics “kicking [your] butt.” I lost a 4.0 from AP Physics last semester :/

@adodie Yeah, it will be nice in that sense. I’ll be able to hang out with my friends on that night and either celebrate or try to feel better. But I don’t know what I’m going to distract myself with on the actual day. If I had school, once I get out at 4, there is only an hour left.

I’m in CA, so decisions will theoretically be out by the time I get home from school at 3:30. Cool.

Okay, I just reread what I wrote, and who am I kidding… I’m definitely going to check in class, lol.

@adodie & @satellitemind, i have spring break RIGHT after decisions come out. so march 28th is my last full day of school before break. i think it’ll be nice because that way if you receive bad news you can spend a week away from everyone and process it before you have to face anyone. especially since at my school, EVERYONE will be asking where everyone else got in.

@adodie physics = death. that and calculus are really the only classes i’m still working in just because i know for sure i’m taking those AP exams.

do y’all think that yale’s decisions will come out an hour earlier than expected? i know for early (i was deferred) they were released at 4pm EST instead of 5pm.

i think on the actual day, i won’t mention it to anyone at school because for early i told almost everyone about it to try and make myself feel better and i didn’t receive the results i wanted (obviously we all want to get in). it sounds weird but i’m kind of superstitious like that haha

Yeah my decision comes out spring break, too lol.

@stupid: Haha it certainly does help ease the pain. One downside of going to a school that actually has a decent number of people applying to top schools is fearing the judgment of others, because a lot of us tend to predict each other’s chances and the people who are applying know each other pretty well, so if any one of us finds out our decisions, there’ll be constant mental comparisons in an attempt to explain why he got what he got. Out of the 11 people applying to Yale from my school, I’m pretty sure I’m the weakest candidate stats-wise, so my self-esteem is low enough as is, but I know not to think about it too much. Still, it’s pretty intimidating to know you have the lowest chance out of everybody.

My Spring Break is the week after this one coming up, so the second week back from Spring Break is when I’ll know. Thankfully we get Good Friday off though so I’ll have the whole three-day weekend to absorb the results.

BAHAHAHAHA I just realized it was on Good Friday. What a fitting day to find out.

For most of us, Good Friday will be ironic. For others, it’ll be meaningful
In any case, whether or not I have school on D-Day, I end school at 6 and get home at 7, so decisions would be out :)

Coincidentally, I have a meeting on the day decisions come out again to plan the aame conference as I was planning when ea came out…not sure if this is a sign since I was deferred :/

Sent from my SGH-T959P using CC

I just got a likely letter from Yale last night :DD

Any UK or Irish applicants?! Also is decision day 28th march or 29th?
