Yale Class of 2017 RD Discussion thread

Still hope. I was waitlisted. ^▁^

Thanks  I really hope so… fingers crossed

Well, it’s not yet as bad as 1/24, but it’s getting there…

@Juvenis: It’s a double-edged sword in terms of admissions as well. If you get good grades at a school like that they know you can handle hard work, but they’d also be impressed by you being able to do more w/less in terms of test scores and activities at a less academically rigorous school. Probably just comes down to who’s reading the application. That’s what mine might come down to anyway: MIT and Caltech both deferred me from EA and rejected me RA, so the Ivies could all go either way.

Totally new here, figured I’d join in on the discussion I’ve been following for so long  I never used CC until I started applying for colleges this year; I think this site is going to be what I remember most about the experience haha. I’m also anxious for these coming two weeks!

To be honest, I’ve always looked at the Ivies as something I’d never even try applying for- not because of my grades/stats or anything like that, but because of how unreachable they seemed. And now…they still seem unreachable XD I don’t have high hopes, but who really knows what will happen? I am grateful I was even able to consider applying in the first place.
While applying to Yale, I don’t even know what happened- I completely fell in love with the place- which makes the Friday after next even more unbearable hah. Good luck to everyone!

@waiting17 Totally second your thoughts. Yale isn’t even the best for engineering (my preferred major), yet I have fallen in love with it over the last few months. Being deferred EA from here was a disappointment but it just gave me added impetus to go all out, not just for Yale, but for very college I applied too. Ivy day is going to be tough for me because I applied to all the Ivies, but I will look out for every decision with a blind faith of acceptance, hoping that they saw beyond just my grades and achievements and saw the interest and personality that I tried to demonstrate thorough my essays.

@himanshusahay I’m also applying to engineering; maybe it’ll help us get in :)

But realistically, Ivy day is going to be brutal.

For me, ruthlessly brutal!!!

I also think it’s going to be brutal! That’s why I am not expecting much. Where else has everyone gotten into so far?

Stanford (REA), Yale (likely letter), Vanderbilt (Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship), local state school (full ride), Wellesley, Washington University in St. Louis

Duke (BN scholarship), Vandy, Cornell, Ohio State, ???

I got into Grinnell! The only other school I’ve heard back from so far is WashU, and I was waitlisted there.

Spring break is either going to be incredibly joyous or horrifyingly brutal. :/

Waitlisted at U of Chi. Likely from Cornell.

Ivy Day is next week. Oh. My. Glob.

Accepted at University of Toronto and Queen’s University. Wait listed at UChicago

@jushyosaha Don’t know if they segregate candidates by their major :stuck_out_tongue: I did get deferred EA so my hopes aren’t very high. :P

anyone know hoe decisions will be released? Email? portal log in?

mar 28 5pm

will they come in an email or will we have to log into a portal? or some other way?

They’ll create a special decisions portal like they did for the EA decisions.

Everyone here is so accomplished! Anyone else here waiting for Northwestern this week (if the RD threads are anything to go by)?
