How much cheaper? Are you URM or relatively poor?

@hawkey did you get into Yale ED?

@Philo: I kinda doubt someone who is poor will be a reruited Hockey player – it’s darn expensive! – but who knows

@hawkey: make sure you compare both FinAid packages. You have some wiggle room to speak w/Yale if you tell them what’s going on with the BC packages. Yale may adjust in your favor. Good luck.

Recruited hockey players don’t necessarily have to be poor to require financial aid. However as we know all too well there are gaps in FA and for a family that is solidly upper middle class (for example two parents working making a combined 150k/annum pre-tax) may still be asked for a significant financial contribution towards tuition and 10-25k in tuition per year is a huge expense and most middle class families don’t have that kind of disposable income which means they need to take out loans and if hockey’s important and he’s offered a full ride at one place that provides significant financial relief for the student and his family which is probably why hawkey is considering BU. But as for your question, if BU offered you a full ride it wouldn’t hurt to let Yale know and chances are that if they don’t match, they increase the amount of aid offered to you.

Is there any one know when is the preview date for Yale? Thanks.

@102610: Bulldog Days is Apr 15th, 16th and 17th.

There isn’t going to be any harm asking Yale to look at a BU financial aid offer but realistically you can’t expect Yale to become significantly more generous unless you are comparing its offer to a “peer school” which BU certainly is not. Yale’s FA offers are typically generous but unless you are falling into the under $65K/year family income category, the kinds of kids who get into Yale are able to find a lower cost of attendance elsewhere with merit scholarships - especially if they are in the $150K+ income bracket.

Thank you, T26E4.

Hi everyone! just over a week of waiting left!! I can’t wait. If I get in, it’ll be between Yale and MIT. That would be an awesome decision to face, haha.

Has anyone received an email explaining how/where/when to view our decisions from Yale??

Once decisions are available you can check the link below.

[Freshman Application Status Information | Yale College Admissions](http://admissions.yale.edu/application-status-information)

Thank you! I hope they send an email telling us a specific time, though

@penguin20- I think all the Ivy’s are releasing on March 28th after 5pm EDT

If we are unsure about the password we chose for our eli accounts, is there anyway to recover this before Thursday? I could probably figure it out after a few tries, but I rather be safe than sorry and have my password ready.

If you know your Eli account ID you can use the following link to reset it.

https://fidelis.its.yale.edu/authenticate/ResetAccountWithAccountName_eli-accounts.do

Thank you so much! :)

Just be warned- last year the site was slammed, and it was really hard to log on for a while. My D tried for an hour before she got in. Maybe Yale will get its act together this year, but I’m not optimistic!

the funny thing is that i live in VA and we don’t have school tomorrow because it snowed. at the end of march.

Anyone get called for a second interview this month? I had one two weeks ago and my interviewer told me she wasn’t aware that I had been interviewed. I asked my first interviewer if he had forgotten to submit the report and he claims he did not. I thought the first interview went well, but I heard most second interviews are the result of an unusually bad report or a missing report.

Any ideas?

No one really knows firstgenn. Just put it out of your mind. Thurs will come soon enough
