Yale Class of 2027 Official Thread

Sorry, just curious to know, what’s the update on the verification form speculation?

i mean the verification form is probably just for people who have complex or stranger financial situations, not much to do with acceptances

Not entirely true. This form was called “family grid” till last year and asked from only those who got accepted (form was asked after acceptance)

So you mean it can be indicative of an acceptance? Because it really does make sense.

I generally think that Yale pulls out all documents from IDOC, and since people submitted the verification without being told so it has shown up on their portal, but the long text one is for those who Yale has asked specially since it is an additional document.

Not complex! Technically that form just asks for information of dependents. So it can’t help them solve any complex financial issue.

Agree! It is about very basic household information: parents’ age and filing status, dependent(s)’ age, filing status, school attending (if in college). They should have the information from CSS file.

@YaleSimp2023 You should add date they received/was asked to your poll. Everyone who was asked to submit earlier had the shorter version. I believe a lot of them were uploading that form through the FA portal at that time, hence the title was changed to the longer version. It might have changed around Feb 15th if I am not mistaken… They both mean the same thing. No difference whatsoever.

Technically you can’t upload it from your FA portal since the form is only available on IDOC.

Not true. When it showed up early, the form on the FA portal was downloadable, so you can print it, sign it (the form indicated to sign with a pen, not electronically) and then upload it through the portal. I know that because we did that and then was asked to submit it again through IDOC.

Also, I was requested that document on feb 18th so it wasn’t earlier than 15th.

Guys, the verification form theory is COMPLETE BUNK. I know someone with fee waivers who has absolutely 0 chance of getting into Yale (applied as a joke) and has the long form in their portal.

Well, if they weren’t asked, and if they submitted to IDOC for another school, Yale will still download it. That doesn’t mean anything. But if Yale is asking for it, especially after the mid app cycle, it may not mean acceptance or even a positive sign, but they’re at least looking at your application.

Can someone explain or re-explain the difference between “long text” and not long text regarding the verification form.

This is exactly what we’ve been trying to say.
If Yale doesn’t ask for it but u submit it anyways, they’ll download it and add it to your file which is probably destined to go in the dustbin anyways. But if Yale requests that form specifically, it would mean that they are doing something.

Add to this the fact that this form was asked much much later than other tax docs and income statements, it starts to look a little fishy

Up until Jan, Yale’s preferred method of uploading docs was their own doc upload portal. But they switched to IDOC later and thus, the instruction to submit it through IDOC.
Source: I called them up and asked why it said “please complete through IDOC”

Everyone: of those of you who see the verification form in your portal, was your FAFSA selected for verification beforehand?

That doesn’t matter as the international applicants who have this form on their portal don’t have the FAFSA requirement.
So, in short, no it’s not dependent on FAFSA verification

So am I getting it right that the speculation is that if you have the form in your checklist it’s a positive sign, and the name length is insignificant.

You’re almost right. If you were asked for the form, especially after mid app cycle, then they’re at least looking at your app.

But I was asked through IDOC that Yale is requesting. It’s the same thing?
