Yale Fall 2010 Thread

To Lobzz: You shouldn’t be “glad” that you didn’t apply because you never know till you try.

^I really wouldn’t have been able to handle the extra stress. I’ve already applied to schools that have my heart racing like Speedy Gonzalez on a race track whenever I check my e-mail

I get the same feeling too!!! I swear, I feel the adrenaline rush whenever I keep thinking about places I’ve applied to.

Good to know I’m not alone.

Does anyone of you guys know if there are cutoffs for standardized test scores? My sat scores are epic fails…

There are no cut-off scores per se, but you generally have to have done well on the SATs… slightly more so if you’re a sophomore transfer.

Lol, I hope my poor SAT score & terrible HS grades don’t screw me over that badly. :)

Thanks Lobzz! It means a lot!

Jeez, now I know what Darth Vader must have felt when his death star got blown up… I must turn to the wisdom of Luke Skywalker during these “desperate” times.

^ Don’t forget to keep me updated, 45daysinrome!

@quantum: Hope for the best; expect the worst. There’s a plan in store for you.

Thanks Lobster ;)

To elaborate on entomom’s post. One dude posted himself as accepted. I believe until few days ago he posted asking about transferring from a college i never heard of to an equally obscure one; my guess is that he wanted to pull out a joke on the depressing forum :P

quantum,
I just searched for the old results threads and you are absolutely right about me reporting about excellence10 being admitted last year, however, later information proved that that was not the case. I have gone back and posted a correction. When I looked back at the 2009 thread, a friend of a CCer also got in, he was from Deep Springs College. Here are the 2008 and 2009 Y threads, linked to the page with the first acceptance:

Hi entomom! Thanks for the info. Where are you applying by the way?

I’m afraid I’m long beyond applying ;), although I was a CCC transfer to Cal many years ago. I moderate this forum because my D1 was a transfer applicant for fall 2008.

Ah, I see… You mentioned that your D attended Yale in 2008 as a transfer and was a counselor a year later? Care to elaborate?

So May 13th is the date we’re looking for… Just under a month.

That’s not quite the correct timeline. Soph transfer in fall 2008, froco in fall 2010 (there are four 2010 frocos who transferred in the same year). Is there something in particular that you want me to elaborate on??

What’s a froco? BTW, I just wanted to know if your D was/is a counselor because it would be so cool if they let students work as counselors.

Froco stands for freshman counselor. They are seniors who lives on Old Campus with the fr in their residential college. For transfer students, it gives them the opportunity to live on Old Campus because they never had that experience as a fr.
