I’m applying as a middle eastern studies major

because, if i show my stats then people can assume my true identity. I’m serious, I’ll like stand out and people (admissions guys) might figure out who i am

Do you really think that admissions people check these websites?

Yes, I know that for a FACT!!! If you don’t believe me, go check eli whitney threads

Do they really? That’s umm… I don’t know…Surprising?!
And how do they know who you are?

Sorry, I’m new at this and I’m procrastinating big time on my paper. Are there Eli Whitney sites on college confidential?

and by sites I mean boards

Yes, look it up. Also, they could easily pick me out because I kinda stand out a little shy in both good and bad ways

… awkward? I don’t know, I’m kind of not partial to looking up things on these boards because everything that is being said by posters is being contradicted by another poster. I don’t really want to get my hopes up or crushed.

Dude, just look it up… Seriously… it’s not that hard. There is literally a person, associated with Yale’s admission who told people to keep some of the information they posted to themselves because they can easily be identified. Look it up on one of the eli whitney threads

You guys severely underestimate admission faculty’s ability to distinguish their applicants purely by comparing their stats, achievements, unique attributes/characteristics, etc…

Oh no I believe you. I don’t deny the fact that it would be easy to identify students by GPA’s and EC’s, heck it is what separates us from each other. Forgive me if I don’t want to get lost further in these boards.

That whole concept is interesting… Do you think they put that into consideration when reviewing your application?

Taking what into consideration? Us using these boards and speaking freely with each other?

I don’t know, but it’s better not to find out

True, though, I think as long we use the boards a resource for questions that we may have it’s fine. Just don’t be cocky about things. :)

That’s precisely the point. Posting stats like your gpa, class rank, course load, etc. is fine, but I see lot of unnecessary cockiness depicted in those descriptions.

Couldn’t agree more with you quantum… BTW where is everybody else?? This thread is dying…

Yeah, seriously… Come on people, be more ACTIVE!!!

I think people are angry cause I went against the idea of posting detailed stats
