Yale International Admission Stats

Anyone knows of international admit rates for the Yale class of '08? Thanks=)

8 or 9% ish?

WAIT i take that back! that's the percentage of internationals of the class of 08. sorry :(

heh ok - so no one has any idea about Yale's international acceptances rates?

bump=)

8 out of 32 Chinese students got admitted last year, which is 25% for Chinese from Mainland. A high percentage!!!!!

only 32 chinese applicants last year? wonderful

32 pure Chinese, not the ones live in US for several years.
32 submitted TOELF score, Yale doesn't require their SAT score, lucky them, not me.

TOELF is a joke compared to the SAT 1 verbal.. i tired hard to make mistakes on the TOELF and i rarely do.. but on the sat 1, i tried my ass off to get perfect, i still did horrible.

A perfect TOELF score= 500 on SAT I verbal.

really?

perfect TOEFL= 500 verbal ? Is that what you made up or is that something that admission office uses?

Fallinwater0328,

i agree.. toefl is seriously a joke compared to the sat 1 verbal... anyone who can score over 500 on sat 1 verbal can ace the damn thing

I don't agree . . . I found the listening section of the TOEFL rather hard. Especially the long conversations/lectures. When I sat for the TOEFL, I got some history lecture from which, when it came to the questions, I just couldn't remember a single word. So those 5 questions or so were pure guesswork for me. The listening section is more a memory test than one of comprehension, if you ask me!

Of course, the grammar and comprehension sections are a breeze.

Is that the TOEFL or the TOELF? Why is everyone calling it TOELF? a new test i missed? cries

Wow... why did everyone here take toefl?! I thought if you get a decent SAT verbal score it'll be waived?

it's TOEFL alright. Test Of English as a Foreign Language. The TOEFL's changing too along with the SAT.

Yeah it is waived-I dont think u need to take it if u get above a 700

i'd send it because i got a 295! flashes peace sign

I had to take it because Wes and several other schools required it.

Unfortunately, I only got 277. =(

And...drum roll i have 300! so naturally i sent it in even though my verbal score waives my toefl requirement at most colleges.

well naturally TOEFL is going to be easier for those of us living in the US where English is everywhere. I didn't take TOEFL but if I was living in China, that's probably the test I'd be stressing over rather than the SATs.
