@LucasKovacs and @beadlee105 - I checked the box as well, though I did nothing after checking it (writing the requested optional Why Yale-NUS, uploading anything, etc.). I did not receive the e-mail (which is honestly fine, I checked the box on a whim and would rather not spend my college years in Singapore).
@Anonymous93 @Lucaskhan what’s going on? Oh my god. Is YALE NUS totally different than Yale college? I am so confused. I don’t even know what Yale NUS is and I was only considering applying to Yale college…!!! What should I do? I’m so panicked right now
@beaglee105 You have got absolutely nothing to worry about
Yale NUS and Yale are completely different institutions and their application reviews will certainly not intersect, although the former originated from the latter. If Yale is the only one you aspire to get into, then don’t worry about this.
At this point there is not much you can do since they are wrapping up the cycle.
However, you can still call them up and ask them to consider you for cycle-3 (I’m not entirely sure if this is possible) but look up the admissions process on their website and send your test scores and the optional Yale NUS essay then, but I’m afraid the seats will be limited in cycle-3.
Again, you don’t have to go through this stress if you have no intention of leaving for singapore to study.
Take a chill pill and relax!
Hey! I applied in round 1, and got an interview during round 2. I’m super anxious about the 21st results omg! How are you guys dealing with it?
@raxo56 I’m getting back to my charity work since I haven’t been able to concentrate on my NGO the past month or two due to the application morass. Waiting for results is indeed strenuous- both mentally and physically. You feel excited to know the results as soon as possible but dread that moment in tandem. What about you?
Oh wow that’s an interesting diversion! @rahuilmars231 I’m currently giving my last exams until my finals, so I have the free time to obsess. Oh yeah, the dread and excitement duo is true, but I tend to border on the regret/dwelling bit, which is why I need the next few days to pass quickly! How are you feeling about your chances
@raxo56 Obsessing over it too much is bound to be psychologically damaging. I was fairly confident about my chances at Uchicago but I ended up getting waitlisted. I threw a hostile, immature fit because I took it too personally.
We can never predict admissions at elite universities because luck has a such a huge bearing on them.
I was shortlisted for an interview by Yale NUS and it went really well. And although my SAT scores aren’t that great,(2170) the rest of my application is fairly strong (from an objective viewpoint) but I still am preparing myself to accept a rejection with grace because it’ll only damage my head if I don’t.
@Anonymoose3 yeah I did the same and the email got sent to my spam, which is annoying as I would be totally down for spending 4 years there. Had to search my entire inbox/deleted emails/spam etc to find it
Hey guys, those of you who didn’t send the scores or extra required material in time, you should call up the admissions office ASAP and ask them to put your applications on hold so that you can be considered in round 3 or else they’ll reject you outright. There’s always a way guys. It’ll take hardly 5 minutes of your time so call them up immediately.
So the decisions come out March 21st. Is that Singapore time or US time? Is it possible decisions will come out tomorrow?
@rahuilmars231 thanks for that info. should I do it bc i never received the email about the 250 essay? not sure if that’s sufficient reason
@rahuilmars231 thank you so much! But I’m still confused with the process - so if I don’t get in to NUS, then can I still be considered as an applicant for Yale college? I’m only considering Yale college and had no idea what NUS was about. I did not submit any extra NUS essays and I did not submit my test scores to NUS. But I receive an email recently indicating that the decision will come out next Monday.
@beaglee105 Pleasure’s mine
But seriously though, The Original Yale admissions Staff don’t care a hoot what their applicants choose to do with the Yale- NUS initiative because they are completely separate, autonomous universities (Yale and Yale-NUS I mean)
Many of the professors at Yale are actually aversive towards the Yale- NUS initiative because they believe it diminishes the significance of a Yale Degree (since it reduces the tangible exclusivity of the college- cue elitist arrogance )
So they probably will be happy to know that you don’t want anything to do with Yale- NUS LOL.
Don’t worry. Good luck!
@isabelringing Their decisions will come out Singapore time…which means that bright and early Monday morning we’ll know if we’re in or not
what time does the results come out in singapore time?
Any idea about the decisions time? Their email didnt mention anything
just one more day to go! Best of luck guys
hello …umm was it a must to get interviewed to get accepted ?
@ngh!!! yeah, they only give interviews to shortlisted applicants
I’m gonna sleep for the next 15 hours cuz the anxiety is getting to me. All the best guys! It’s been a pleasure talking to yall.
Long Live And Prosper. :-bd
