Thanks Entomom! I’m a public university student! I knw my As here are lower compared to students who get As at other prestigious universities…:(

southerncali,
My D did something similar. Her school ended in mid-April, so she made a copy of her unofficial grade report and sent it to Y. I can’t say whether or not it helped, but it couldn’t hurt.

Hi Entomom

I am taking 200 level classes right now. Should I send Yale my Unofficial transcript with the grades (A’s) signed by the professors? Along with that, should I send them a copy of my E.C’s since the application doesn’t mention anything of that sort?

Sincerely,
TransferAccepted

Transferaccepted: I have the same question about ECs…I don’t get why the app doesn’t ask for them…

I had this suspicion that Yale doesn’t ask for your ECs because they want you to tell them through your personal essays which activities were truly meaningful to you. Surely an insightful explanation for one or two of your ECs and how they’ve affected you is much more compelling than a mere list of activities, which I would imagine often times leaves adcoms scratching their heads. But if you opted to talk about something else in your personal statement, a resume will suffice

ugh. i am really worried now. i didn’t talk about ECs in my essays. and i didn’t send them a list of my ECs. what should i do? is it too late to send extra materials? what could/would i send them?

Hey,

About the EC, I know for a fact (they gave them to me) that both my college dean and my professors rec. letter mentioned all of my EC. Do you think this will suffice? I didnt submit a resume because of that.

Truthfully, I can’t remember whether my D send a separate resume or not. Since results aren’t due for about a month, it seems like updates on ECs or grades might still be helpful.

SC,

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. If it makes you feel any better, even though I suspected that Yale might have wanted to hear about our ECs through the essays, I opted to talk about other things. I’ve devoted the majority of my time thus far to playing lacrosse for my current school. Although lacrosse was at the top of my list of ECs because it was the most time consuming (and successful b/c we won our first national championship last year as well)l, I realized I just couldn’t bring myself to write an essay about lacrosse (despite what many of my medschool bound teammates told me about their successes in interviews and such through talking about lacrosse) because it just wasn’t the most important thing to me at the time. Instead, I wrote of English literature–a subject I’ve neglected ever since middle school–and how my rediscovery and new found appreciation for the subject helped me place my undergraduate education in a new perspective, and ultimately how it compelled me to make the rest of undergraduate years a more rewarding experience. Whether my choice will adversely affect me, I’ll soon find out. But for the time being, I just simply attached my resume to the back of my personal statements.

didnt send any resume or EC list to Yale not cuz that’s not required in the checklist but I assume yale doesnt want just a SIMPLE LIST of ECs. If you really have done something even those are not stellar but truly had effects on u, that would appear in ur viewpoints penetrating through the essays. :)

i’m so not getting into yale…gah.

Hey guys

We shouldn’t panic just yet. I think we would be fine if we incorporated some of our EC’s into the essays. But If anyone truly wants to send an extra resume, he or she is always welcome to do so. Seriously people, don’t give up on your chances yet.

Sincerely,
TransferAccepted

Hello everybody I´m new in this thing.
I live in México and I´m hoping to transfer to 3 Universities: Yale, NYU or Columbia University.
I have to say My SAT´S are horrible!!! about 1,300
I´m in 3d semester of psychology.
But here is my story and why I wish to transfer.

All my life I have being with kids with different disabilities, and this have become a very important part of me. I met Sean ( a 9 year old boy with autism) When he was 4 and I was 12. I decided to come to Connecticut last summer to work with him in different therapies that of course Mexico does not have. So I went back to my school, and try to start with my dream wich is opening a school for autistic kids, that would use art as the first therapy and all the aid would be free. So when I wanted to start I found out Mexico doesn´t even have 1% of knowledge in autism and that my university classes are so lack in my interest. So I decided to come back, to prepare myself and then open the school because I know that staying in Mexico won´t get me very far.

I´m I writer, I publish my first book at the age of 17 ( wich I send a copy to Yale)
and I will publish my first novel this year.

I know Yale is looking for students that can give “more” than just an “A”
My GPA is good, is like 3.8

BUT MY SAT IS KILLING MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
pleaseee tell me they can consider me… or ok tell me the truth

thank youuuuu

yeahh and I have to work on my writing hahahah sorry that I didn´t check it before posting it.

Wow you’re published? That’s very impressive. I’m assuming not in English ^ lol?

No! but I send the book and a copy of a translation I hope it works!!!
this waiting for my letter is driving me nuts!!! I´m so nervous.

i wish you the best of luck! your story sounds amazing!

Thank you southerncali!
I hope the universities give me a chance too.
I´m very nervous !!! in like 2 weeks they will send the letters
