Definitely second haha
only a week left! and yes, it’s the odds that put us down…
ahaha yeah, second option!
Well cheer up guys. We know that ultimately, this is going to result in probably all of us being slain on the battlefield of transfer. But at least we tried something crazy, and we fell in the name of a worthy cause. Taking risks is a noble thing.
So instead of sitting in mortified silence, can we get some discussion going? What are you guys looking at for alt schools? What are your majors? What drew you to apply to yale?
im currently studying interior architecture at rhode island school of design and am looking at yale for their undergrad architecture studies program.
I was really drawn to the ability to study other disciplines that would help cultivate my interest in developing my skills in areas like writing and environmental policy and sociology, so as to be able to become a more informed maker. What is unique about Yalr is being able to do this and yet still immerse myself in an intense studio environment for art and design making because of yale’s graduate schools.
I applied to a bunch of other schools but unless I get into Yale or Brown(where I have cross registered for classes and am doing a climate policy class that goes to the COP in Paris) I will most likely be staying at my current school.
I’m at Texas A&M University studying Computer Science. If I don’t get in, I’ll be staying at school.
What drew me to Yale, as ttffnet mentioned, the ability to study other disciplines. I want to attach an International Relations/Global Affairs major along my CS major. I really want to go back to Nigeria (where my family is from) and do stuff with technology to help improve the education system over there.
I’m currently a student at the University of Alabama, focusing on Political Science and possible Business. I’ve applied to UPenn, Duke, and UNC (which I’ve been accepted to) as well.
I think for me, the “possibly” caries the largest reason I’m enamored with Yale. I’m very interested in their Ethics, Politics, and Economics major for a variety of reason, one of the most important being if I decide that maybe focusing in Business isn’t what I want, I will still have an extremely diverse set of options and courses at arm’s reach. Also, even though I do actually love Alabama, I’m looking for a more initial cohesive student body, that then allows for you to break off and find smaller, more centralized groups you’re interested in (here, if you’re not Greek it’s almost impossible to find a good group of friends. Some of my friends from high school came here, so it wasn’t so bad, but I definitely would have like to have a different social scene to enjoy).
Plus, it’s Yale! I’ve been in love ever since I got up the courage to begin thinking about transferring.
You’ve been accepted to Duke and UPenn? YOU’VE GOT THIS!!! I am so excited for you!!
Haha whoops I should have clarified @Awilo13 ! I’ve been accepted to UNC, but also applied to Duke and UPenn. I’ll here from those two this upcoming week too! this will be an interesting 7 days !
I’m sure you’ll be fine!!
Any CC students applying?
@UniversalSnip Yup! Longest of long shots for me - not just because of the CC thing. Good luck!
Do CC students normally make that big of a jump? Just curious cause I don’t really know the general attitude at CC’s.
hell no. CC students have a reputation for being unmotivated for a reason. Hardly any are even willing to apply out of state, let alone go for an absurd moonshot like Yale.
I don’t think technical CC classes are particularly easier than those of top schools. For example, I split my calc sequence up between two CCs. I looked up UC Berkeley’s calc sequence, watched a few video lectures and checked out some practice tests, and the CC classes were identical in content and difficulty. So it’s not like CC students are incompetent. But the students who are really passionate about learning or just the college experience generally are really diamonds in the rough at a CC and you have to dig for them. I would expect admissions at a top college to know this and look askance at CC applications.
I so want to finish the rest of my college years in the U.S… Studying in China really isn’t the thing for me… But then I think studying there for the last two years hasn’t really been an advantage for my application…
So we’re sure about the decision being released Friday?
unless they decide otherwise, that is what the lady at the front desk told me!
@TracyTC I was in the same shoes as you last year. Finally I ended up coming to Aussie. Now I’m transferring again.
do you guys know what time on friday ?
Ahhhh freaking out!!!
Last year thy were released through Thursday evening despite saying they would be released on Friday so im expecting the same thing this year!!
I literally can’t sleep!
