Like I’m sorry if you think that I’m being super sensitive but I got called stupid a lot in high school and so obviously it really bothers me when people imply that I am
@jaygoodiez, please relax. In the anonymous world of the Internet, people sometimes say things they would not say to your face, especially since they can’t see that they’ve hit a nerve. It’s not a great place for thin-skinned people.
The fact is, stats mean very little at some point. For regular admissions, I often posted an explanation that (long story short) emphasized that the poster’s stats were fine, but that essays and recommendations would undoubtedly be the determining factor, and that since we weren’t the ones reading them, doing chances was silly.
Good luck.
@IxnayBob okay, but I still think it’s a reasonable expectation that calling someone stupid, for no real reason,is rude
Okay, I’m done with this thread. If anyone else wants to call me a bad person for posting my stats, or for taking offense when someone said I was stupid, go ahead, but responding to all this is stressing me out. I’ve been on this site for one day and I i feel is worse than before. I wish I could delete my account, and every comment I’ve ever posted, so that this could all be done, but for some reason this site won’t let me. Please, nobody feel the need the berate me anymore, you’ve got your point across.
I think exactly zero people observing this thread other than yourselves care about your argument, please for the sake of future readers like myself just be quiet
On that note I think my interview went well. I’m concerned that my questions weren’t strong or numerous enough, but other than that kind of retrospective anxiety, I would say the interview was not a rough experience. They’re not going to rake you over the coals.
Would it be polite to send a message thanking the interviewer for giving me an opportunity to learn about the college? The interview was presumably mandatory for me - what is the etiquette here?
I don’t think anyone ever has a problem being thanked for taking the time. They are volunteers, and do it because they love their school.
In fact the yale interviewer was a department head, rather than a volunteer, but I’ll definitely send out messages to all my interviewers anyway.
Again, thanks for the advice, you guys have been helpful.
Oh, sorry, transfers aren’t my bailiwick. Best of luck.
I got chased after for missing documents again, but this time by my regional adcom instead of the transfer team. Should I look into this? Anyway I never have hopes after so many false ones last year
does everyone get an interview? i thought they didnt have interviews for transfers?
I’m not sure everyone gets any interview, I’ve been contacted twice by the Admissions Office for varying reasons, but haven’t been notified of an interview.
Yale site explicitly says there is no interview for transfer applicants
about 2 weeks left before we know! (based on past notification dates)
good luck everyone!
I really want to get in the architecture department and showed up with my portfolio and everything. They said Yale College admission is required first and that they have no control so maybe major isn’t so important to them?
gah
nervous as hell!!!
Ml oh I’m o pmfji
@doctorgk If you don’t mind me asking, what were your credentials? GPA? Test scores? And reason to transfer? If you don’t wish to share that is completely fine! Congratulations, btw! :-bd
super worried! My professor mailed in my reccomendation letter 3 weeks ago, and Yale never received it. It wasn’t until I called yesterday and they said they never received it. My professor emailed it to the lady who answered the phone but now I’ve lost all hope because decision time is coming really soon and my stuff was late. Oh well, better luck next time. I wish you all the best!!!
I called and decisions will be released May 8th!!
Are people not hyped for this because not many CC readers are applying, or because we all have a good sense of how bad the odds are?
Second option
