But aren’t there faculty/others in that total?
No, 1551 is just Incoming Undergraduates.
anyone get off?
@chickennoodlesoupppppp I’m aware of someone who got off (from Reddit). I guess they are using the waitlist.
Best of luck to all.
best of luck to everyone! either way, I hope you already love the college you committed to.
Any news about the first wave? Has anyone already gotten off?
when did the first wave go out?
The directory is now at 1561 from 1551.
Did Yale close waitlist?
It’s at 1563 now, so it’s pretty much at the target. However, they will likely keep it open until the Fall plans are fully flushed out, which may not be until July. I think all schools are in the same situation until they make some commitment about being on-campus, etc. and what things will be like.
Hi guys, does anyone know that what is the deadline for admitted students to decide whether they would like to take a gap year or enroll in next semester? Shouldn’t the closing of the waitlist be also around that time then?
There is no hard deadline, but they indicated they will accept requests for some period after the fall plans have been officially announced (assuming there are restrictions or changes made to on-campus activities). The projected date for those plans to be released is in July.
Has anyone heard anything on the enrollment/commitment numbers? or of any movement?
The current Directory shows as 1573.
Do you happen to know how many people are considering or are certain that they will defer their admissions given that the fall semester will be online?
@Clam855 how do you know the fall semester will be online? Was there an announcement I missed? Can you post link if you heard something? Thanks
I’m not sure how many people are still interested in knowing about the waitlist, but yesterday I received a call from my regional Yale admissions officer saying that I was admitted. They said the official status update would be released within a few days. Good luck to all!
Congrats on getting accepted! By referring to “regional Yale admissions officer” I assume you’re a US applicant, right? I am asking because as an international applicant I am wondering if, in the unlikely case of getting off the waitlist, I will receive a call, or an email, or if I should just check on my portal regularly. Thanks.
There has been no decision to go online only. Reading the tea leaves, I suspect they will try to go in person with modifications, such as remote for large lectures, more smaller classes and perhaps a truncated schedule to reduce travel. There will also likely be various social distancing precautions in common areas, like dining halls and libraries. FWIW, S is a first year counselor and right now he is going through training and meetings as if there will be students on campus.
