School is extremely competitive. Ranked third in state by State U's assessment.

Also just found out I'm getting one of my poems published in a few different anthologies, pretty excited about that.

Thanks in advance.

what major.. regardless.. you look like a pretty good candidate.

for the regular undergrad/CAS whatever. or do you mean you have to declare a major beforehand?

Yeah well you have to apply for a major before hand. Generally the admissions are pretty consistent throughout all majors, although the business school standards are way different. You probably won't get into the business school, but pretty much everything else, you stand a fair chance on. Higher M+V might help, maybe a 1400 total.

So no shot at the plan II then? I write a hell of an essay.

Also, side question. My first SAT score was 690 640 700, cr m w, for a total of 1330/2030.
The second was 680 680 640, for a better cr+m score of 1360 but lesser total of 2000.

I realize they don't combine scores, but will they take the higher combined score and have that count against me in the admissions process or take the overall lower score but 30 point higher cr/m score?

I'm a bit worried about this.

Only your Math/Verbal really count for P2. 1330 or 1360 won't make much of a difference--both are low. What's your class rank? That's going to be more important than your GPA. If you're in the top 5% of your class, that will help.

Did you take any AP tests your junior year? How did you do? SAT2s?

Your EC's are good, but most Plan II applicants have very impressive resumes. I wouldn't say you have no shot, but your odds aren't great. But what the heck, it doesn't cost any more to apply anyway. :)

AP history scores are less than impressive, 3 in modern european and 2 in US, but got a 5 on AP lang. and comp. I really am an english person, and the poem was selected to be published in another "With Honors" anthology.

And you mean low for plan 2, do you not?

Yes he meant it was too low.

Again, for plan II?...

A given score is high or low relative to what you want to get from it. There's no absolute sense in which a 1300/1360 is "high" or "low." I mean you scored lower than most people who matriculate in Plan II. Only 34% of the entering class of 2007 scored below 1400.

But 93% of the class is from Texas, so your out of state status might help.

I realize that. The only question I had was if he meant it was low for plan II or just low for the University in general. Asked and answered. Thank you.
