@heygurl180 did your DD receive any merit money?
DD got her acceptance today with $7500/year. We are in VA, 30 ACT, 92/100 average, only 4 APs including Senior year.
@heygurl180, what part of NY are you from…we are on Long Island and still waiting. My son had a 28 ACT, 4.1 GPA, 11 APs, 3 sport varsity athlete, lots of other ECs. Clemson is his top choice, and we are all very anxious to hear back!
also waiting to hear from LI. D had 30 ACT 4.0 GPA
@pkgny2022, hopefully soon! The wait is rough!
Waiting to hear back in NH… 26 ACT, 4.65 weighted GPA, 17th of 320… anyone from NH hear back? applied early october, got confirmation 11/5
I’m not the expert but from historical commentary I would think that if your student doesn’t qualify for merit based on the posted stats they are likely not to hear until Feb 15th which is the official notification day. So don’t give up hope if you don’t hear now you will know for sure by then:) Good luck!!
@adtuck is correct. Despite some high stats admissions, Clemson is not rolling admissions. As such the majority of students who applied by Dec. 1 will not hear until Feb. 15.
@labegg yes, $7,500!
@a_masters16 @pkgny2022 We are also from Long Island! If it makes you feel any better, her friend who lives in the same town as us got her acceptance with same merit before Christmas. The letter was dated 1/4 so it could possibly be lost in the mail!
g8rmomk8ans, can I ask what count in VA you are in?
@x2018x , we are in Fairfax Co but she goes to a boarding school in PA.
@Momto4kids my S18 literally just mentioned nursing to us for the first time yesterday. While we are thrilled, we are also mildly freaking out because that is a complete change of where he would want to go to school. He’s been leaning research science up to now. At this point, I guess we wait and see where he gets in and if he’s still interested in nursing next month, take it from there.
Thanks @g8rmomk8ans.
Can anyone tell me how long it took to get their clemson activation code after acceptance? My son was accepted Thursday night, but still nothing. Anyone else have this problem or take this long?
@mweb136 The university has been closed almost every day since Thursday and is closed again today for snow. It can take several days or several weeks to get the email. There is no advantage to getting the code and doing really anything on there until about April so I wouldn’t worry at all.
@Baxter126 oh really? I thought we had to send in the deposit prior so we can start registering for dining which opens Feb. 1st etc. Ok, then we will just wait. Thank you!
@mweb136 What I meant was, nothing is urgent that I can think of. You can send in your deposit whenever you want, but there is no advantage to doing it early. The housing contract opens Feb 1 and you can select your roommates then, but again, no advantage (at least there hasn’t been in the past) to doing it earlier than that. I guess if your student will be looking for a potential roommate through the website search, that gives them time to check others out and get in touch etc. All freshman must select the unlimited dining plan, so that’s not a big deal either. Of course its all fun and exciting and you can do it early, I just didn’t want you to think you were missing out on anything.
took me about two days
@chb088 - Nursing schools at Universities are tough to get into and often have early application deadlines but there are still enough out there to apply to so he would at least have a choice maybe? Its tough as a parent because our S has been deferred from schools he should have gotten into easily but we call the admissions office for information and they says its the Nursing major - highest GPA and SAT requirements compared to most majors. He has been told by several universities that if he switched to Biology, History etc he would be in but he wants to try his chances with Nursing. Luckily he is in several good schools already but most people don’t realize the difference in acceptance this major makes!! We did not either as he is our first college age child.
@Baxter126 - you don’t think even though the college is not “physically” open they wouldn’t be working from home during this busy season? Here in the Northeast while your main workplace may be close to keep you safe and off the road - one works from home!
