You Are Tiger Town Bound

@Baxter126 what does that translate to total apps. And then of course they still accept apps into may I believe

Here is the initial data that I’m aware of for the class of 2018:

Aprox 28,500 applications this year. That’s up 11%

Avg SAT 1350
ACT avg 30.5

Pretty darn competitive.

@bergdad and @baxter126 That’s about right! Clemson is a premier institution. Honors College is ranked number 10 in the world. Clemson is considered elite now and becoming a selective school. #23 nationally ranked public school. Great ranking!

Does anyone know if you are wait listed, and then finally get accepted - do they still offer any merit or scholarship?

@mags425 what are your stats (GPA, ACT/SAT and clas rank) and are you in state or OOS?

@MWEB136. GPA 90. ACT 32. OOS. School does not rank

it’s tough when schools do not rank. Clemson has a way of figuring it out still, but for merit purposes I would be unable to give you any guarantee there. Sorry. A 32 is a real strong score though. Major comes in to play, rigor of classes taken, in-state v OOS, etc. If you call admissions directly they will definitely be able to assist you with that. They were so wonderful to deal with every time I had called. They were very open with what numbers my son needed to obtain for merit since day one. Good Luck!

Also, many schools who don’t rank still rank behind the scenes and send it to colleges if needed. Ours is that way.

Does anyone know the date of move in day? Looking to make hotel reservations.

@RelocatedYankee August 17th & 18th

If it follows last year’s schedule, the morning of August 17th is for girls going through sorority recruitment and recruitment starts that day right after lunch. August 18th is for everyone else. You’ll pick a time you want to show up. It’s a really easy process and well run. There is earlier move-in for those trying out for the band as well.

@Baxter126 So for girls to get rushed their freshman year they have to show up a day early and it starts then? That seems odd as it would seem lots of incoming freshman might not have any idea of whether they may want to get involved in Greek life.

@burghdad - We heard the same from our tour guide a few weeks ago.

@burghdad Well, that’s how it was for me back in the day at another university as well so it doesn’t seem that strange to me, but the the girls register for recruitment over the summer and sign up for early move in etc then. There will be emails that go out about the process and there is a website with the full schedule etc so everything is well laid out before they arrive as far as what to expect. They get half of the process down before classes start on Wednesday so it’s really jam packed right away for sure, but also nice to tick some off beforehand.

Move-in and drop off is a fast process for these girls because they really jump right in on that first day. Waiting until Sophomore year is perfectly fine too if they are uncertain. Due to others that wait and the Bridge program girls coming in, there are plenty of sophomores going through as well. There is also a smaller spring recruitment for some of the sororities as well. I think it’s all a personal decision on when to do it, but there will be information in the summer to help them decide. I know lots of girls who did it freshman year, some sophomore year, and plenty that aren’t in the greek system at all.

@ Baxter126, is the process the same from Fraternity recruitment? ie early move in, etc?

@a_masters. No, I think it started about a week later.

Thank you!

I just heard and wanted to pass along that sorority recruitment will be earlier this year so that they can finish the process before classes begin. Freshman girls registered for recruitment will move in Aug 13th and the process will begin that afternoon.

Has anyone heard anything about waitlist numbers yet? I got waitlisted and accepted my spot. I also emailed and called them to express to them that CU is my #1. IS it ranked? What are my chances of getting off the waitlist? Is it worth it?
