"You'll get a letter in 2-4 weeks..."

I called the PSU School of Theatre this morning and asked when all of the kids who audtioned for MT should expect to know their addmission decision. Paula asked my name, told me that the decision was made yesterday, and I should recieve a letter in 2-4 weeks. If it was an acceptance, wouldnt I get my letter in less time? I auditioned on Feb. 28, and got a callback. Every one was so nice and I got a really positive vibe from the school. So if anyone knows if getting a letter in 2-4 weeks means a rejection, I’d really appreciate it!

I don’t think you can read anything into her reply. I think she likely gave that time frame to cover themselves to get all the mailings out, when you may truly hear in less time.

I agree with soozievt: you can’t read anything positive or negative into that.

Well, I got my rejection letter a mere couple days after my audition in Chicago. They were pretty sure on my decision!! Based on my experience alone, I’d say later would be better than sooner!!

soozievt: do you remember how long it took for your D to hear from PSU? I know she auditioned on the last day as well…

AHH! I auditioned in NYC Unifieds Jan 31st. I still have not heard anything back! This is torture!
PSU is one of my top schoolsss!

svb, please keep in mind that the timing could differ a bit from year to year. Four years ago, my daughter auditioned on the last possible audition day which was on campus, the last weekend in February. I just looked up the snail mail letter she got from Cary Libkin and it is dated March 3. I’m guessing that must mean we got it a couple days later. I’m almost certain that is right only because I remember her getting it after school at our mailbox. I remember she then had the BOCO audition the following weekend Right after that, I left town and while I was away she was in an accident. So, I just know this acceptance came before her hospitalization whereas some acceptances came while she was in the hospital. That’s how I remember things!

TylerMcKenzie: This is torture! PSU is one of my top schools as well! :)

soozievt: Thank you so much for all of your help! My mom called again yesterday, and It actually sounded like, as you said, Paula was telling everyone 2-4 weeks. So I will stop stressing there is still hope!

Good luck everyone. Hopefully the 2 to 4 wks is just a range and maybe we will get word sooner. but of course the later is betterr. Who knows we may be looking at PSUs MT Class of '13. Hahaha.

Why does it seem like the days are longer in march? I know I shouldn’t be expecting something everyday, but I still run to the mailbox after rehearsal. hahaha

TylerMcKenzie and EricSig: Letters should be to us very soon! If you guys know the Musical Theatre 2013 page on Facebook, you may have seen a guy post on that page that PSU sent him his rejection. The letter was dated March 1st, which was the day after the last audition, and he received it 2 or 3 days ago! Paula said all letters have been mailed, so if he got his, we should be getting ours! (and whats more strange…the boy on facebook lives in Pittsburgh like me, and he got his letter and I didnt! Slow mail I guess…)

Be sure and check your My Penn State online. It should show an acceptance there.

Sadly I was rejected this week as well. But I am under the impression that I was at least close to acceptance. Is there some sort of waiting list. I mean what if people decide to not to attend.

I think if you are on a wait list, they tell you that in your letter. Sorry it didn’t work out for you, Tyler!

NMR is correct in that “waitlist” will be indicated in your letter. Good luck with your other schools.

I also got rejected after being deferred… Doesn’t sound like they accepted too many people.

I posted this on another thread. For the past few years PSU has accepted ~16 to yield a class of 12 to 14. Then there is a waitlist which they usually go to to fill the class as some kids get more than one acceptance but can only matriculate to one school. This prevents the class from getting too large if all the candidates accepted accept back. Not all the kids that apply to MT are on this chat board, or fb for that matter, so it is not always clear who was accepted. The year my D was accepted 2 cylces ago I believe there were 2 or 3 on this board from her class. Hope this helps.

I cant believe I still havent got my letter…I live two hours from the school!!!

svb0000…have you checked your application online? My son’s packet came a day after it showed on the My Penn State. He auditioned on the last day Feb 28 and received the packet in the mail yesterday. Good luck :)

My son is in the same boat svb0000… no status change on MPS and nothing in the mail yet… only told via phone that we’d hear a decision very shortly. Good or bad news… this is great drama!
