<p>westcoastmomof2: Yes, UVA did offer him admission on the spot, or in this case, via Skype. He sent me an e-mail yesterday saying that he was wearing a UVA sweatshirt. I guess he likes the school already. He plans to attend an open house sometime in March.</p>
<p>I love it! How fantastic to not have to play the waiting game. Congrats again! </p>
<p>Just got some more good news from Bama grads…</p>
<p>One of my son’s best friends, who has posted in the past to CC, has won acceptance to Stanford’s PhD program in engineering. Stanford is No. 2 in the nation with this program. She also has been invited to visit the top program, MIT, along with several other top PhD programs. My son is quite excited for her. She is currently studying for her masters degree in Ireland, but she returns to the states to visit another PhD program soon. So a 14-hour layover will allow her to crash on my son’s sofa and then visit with him! </p>
<p>Meanwhile, my son called to say he earned acceptance to Georgetown’s law school, which also ranks in the top 14 in the nation. Alabama has sent several grads to Georgetown over the years.</p>
<p>Congrats to your son and his friend. She was very helpful,to our family when we were just starting to consider Bama. Answered lots of my questions in regard to engineering. Best of luck to both of them. </p>

<p>My daughter just heard today that she is one of the recipients of this year’s Randall Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award. We’re very proud of her!</p>
