Hey, for those of you who are applying to 2010 YSP, is the site currently down? It isn't working and I wanted to submit my online application tonight. How do I contact them?

Hi, do you know if YSP will contact applicants upon receiving their applications?
I assumed the 2 envelopes they asked for were to give us confirmation, but I haven’t received anything…

From what I understand, they will send out notification on April 16 or 17th.
Anyone have an idea to how many people are applying. I submitted my online application in Late Jan or Early Feb, and it said I was 80-something in submission number. I figured a lot more people have turned in apps since then.

I think that when Pomoroy came around to schools, he said the total number of applicants was ~300 last year.

300! wow, and they only take 40 people…
At least 3 people from my school applied (probably more). Do they limit the number of people they take per school?

Not sure about the limit on the number of people. But I was application number 403 and I started mine a few weeks before the deadline, so there’s probably even more people applying. I heard it’s really competitive.

@mapleblossom: they typically limit it to two people per school, then after they have went through the qualified applicants from schools, open it up to more people in each school.

@tofuisgood4u: Ok, that makes sense.
They probably want people from a variety of backgrounds.

hey is there any way to reretrieve that account number, because going on the website now, there doesn’t seem to be a log-in option, and back then I wasn’t smart enough to realize that we’d be needing those numbers later?

thanks in advance!

Ooooo. The website has changed and we can log in again.
Michlu: We can see the submission number in the application tab again.

Is the application ID and the submission number indicative of how many people are applying? Let’s get an idea of applicants.

Mine are
180s for ID
80s for Submission
Applied 2 months ago

Submission: #317
Applied on March 31
(can’t find the ID #)

They posted acceptances! But I can’t find my ID number…
Where are the ID numbers?

Never mind! I found it, it’s on the left, under Application Status, when you are in the Home tab.
AND I’M ACCEPTED!

Id #277 - waitlisted
…

:

You guys know the chances of a waitlister to get in…?

I think what really bombed me was my GPA and SAT…

also waitlisted!
but im really surprised considering I did the online application 30 minutes before midnight of the deadline (THAT was interesting…) and wrote out the whole “writing sample” explanation in study hall the day of the deadline lol

I got in too!!!
I was REALLY surprised cuz I’m only a sophomore :)

I’m curious, what did all of you write about for the “What scientific discovery or invention do you believe has had the greatest impact on the quality of human life and why?” question?

I wrote about the microscope haha… how about you guys?

where do you guys see the list of applicants that got accepted? apparently it says that the list will be posted on the 17th on the front page, though it isn’t there… >_>;;
