I'm going to be there Friday and I'm sooo excited!:D

Cindy
Break a leg!! I hope you will let us know how it goes. I'll be thinking of you.

Theatermom--
That's great info about UM taking people from the Unifieds. Thank you for asking your d. I'm sure a lot of people will be happy about that! It looks to me like UM only goes to New York and Chicago Unifieds. I don't really understand that. It's a lot easier for students to get to Ann Arbor from New York and Chicago than from California. Now I'm curious if they have students in their program from California . . . . Just kidding, sort of.

UM definitely Californians, Washingtonians, and also several Texans! There is a junior girl from the LA area who I swear auditioned at LA Unifieds...I will ask her if I get a chance, or maybe theatermom knows.

Hah! I'm going start writing letters to schools asking them indignantly why they don't have Unifieds in Asia! It's way easier to get to Ann Arbor, New York, and Chicago from California than from Korea. :)

Just goes to show it could always be worse. ;)

HAHAHA!

Samia, you rock! :)

Haha, thanks CoachC! I made my flight reservations yesterday, and I got a good deal, but it's still $1500 for my audition trip in February. Yeesh.

Oh, I have a problem! This maybe should be on the CCM thread, not sure, but it fits into this category too. Whatever.

I checked my audition time on the CCM website (I'm auditioning there on Feb 18 in Cincinnati.) They have a 7:45am check-in, and then the dance audition from 8:30-10. Then, guess what, my singing/acting audition is at...10:18!!!! 18 minutes to change clothes, get rid of dancing sweat, make my face look somewhat normal and makeup-ed again, and make sure my voice is still warmed up from when I did vocalises at 6 in the morning! Eek! I am frightened. Does anyone have experience with having this little time to go between a dance audition and a singing/acting audition? I read a story about people being asked to do their songs and monologues in their dance clothes for lack of time, but this is different. I will be expected to be in my audition clothes, not dance clothes, and I will be expected to be fresh and polished and put-together. Would it be inappropriate to request a later time, or should I just deal with it and make sure I'm so prepared that I can change and be sweat-free before you can say "Cincinnati"?

Thanks!

Oh, Samia I cracked up when I read your post; my D has the same problem (at one of the regional locations), although she has 21 minutes (a whole extra 3 minutes) to change. Unfortunately, my guess is the answer to your question, for both of you, is the latter: be ultra prepared!
Here's my positive spin: won't they be incredibly impressed with the two of you, when you come strolling in, relaxed, professional and AND FULL OF CONFIDENCE!!
Just call me Pollyanna........

I know that at CCM's audition, and probably your regional as well, most of the time is spent learning the combination, then the auditioners are divided into groups of 4 to perform it -- hopefully, they would have the early people in the first group, then dismiss them, but if they don't do that automatically, I would ask....

Thanks, guys. :)

I'm just going to deal with it. Who wants to make a nuisance of themself with the admissions people before they even get a chance to audition?

I'll buy really good deodorant, mwahaha.

I thought of another question involving CCM & clothes, by the way. So check-in is 7:45 right? And then the dance audition starts at 8:30. Are we supposed to come to check-in in our dance clothes or do they give you time to change from audition clothes into dance clothes between check-in and the dance audition?

Oh poo, I'm just going to call CCM one of these days and ask them about it. But if anyone who has already auditioned there knows for sure about these kinds of things, please let me know! :)

Samia and Bigismama--How did you find out how long the dance audition is at the regional audition for CCM? Is there some place to check on the website or something?

I don't know anything about the regional auditions, I'm auditioning in Cincinnati

MtMommy, try to PM or e mail Freelance because last year, her D did her CCM audition at Unifieds in NYC and as you know she got in and is going there. She had visited CCM in junior year so did the audition for that school at Unifieds and then went back a second time to visit in April after she was admitted. She'd be able to tell you how the CCM audition at Unifieds goes.
:D
Susan

Samia--sorry! I misread your post, I guess, thinking you were talking about regionals.

Susan--Thanks! Good idea. One hour and 14 minutes between start of dance and start of vocal. Hmm.

Someone in admissions said to expect the dance audition to run "about an hour", when I called with a few questions.

14 minutes to run, find a bathroom, change, warm up voice, and get to the audition room???????????????????????????

My daughter auditioned for CCM last year, not at the school, but at the Unifieds. She too had a quick turn around from dance audition to vocal/acting audition. She wore her dance clothes to the audition under a pair of jeans, and quickly took them off when she was called for dance. It lasted about 50 - 60 min. She "quickly" ran to the bathroom, changed into her audition clothes, reapplied her make-up, brushed her hair, put on plenty of deoderant and perfume (not too much), had some cool water, and then took 5 minutes to "compose" herself.

She woke up very early that morning to do all of her vocal warmups, dance stretches, etc., as well as do a run through one more time.

The audition went "okay", wasn't one of her best, and she did not get in. She had less time at another audition, it went beautifully, and she was accepted. So I don't think it was the time crunch, it was just the audition.

A word of advice, get to the school even earlier than suggested to check in. We found it "very" crowded, and the earlier the better to get yourself prepared.

She was accepted at one school from the unifieds, waitlisted at another, and rejected from two. Her other auditions were at the schools, so I guess if the audition is great, you can get in from the unifieds. By the way, that was the school that she ultimately accepted, and is at right now.

Hope this helps.

How do you sign up for the unifieds? Sorry to be so ignorant!

How did you find out your audition time for the CCM on campus auditions? I'll be there January 14th.
