You're applying to the U, 26e? Wow, that's a big jump from Penn! haha... That's definitely a safety school for you!
Really? I grew up by the beach, and I never got sick of it! But maybe it's different in FL.

I've been obsessed w/ the bball team since i started watching cbb, and its a good school in a great location with a pretty nice campus and lovely surroundings. yeah, it was worth the 25 bucks

GPA: 3.94 unweighted
Class Rank: tied for 10/99, i'm pretty sure, but my school doesn't rank
SAT Reading: 770
SAT Math: 750
SAT Writing: 760
AP Scores:
Euro History-4
Biology- 5
Chemistry- 5
Calculus AB- 5
English Language- 5
U.S. History- 5

Undergraduate Program: Wharton

State: California
Ethnicity: biracial (half black, half asian)

lol yeah i don't think i've seen many biracial applicants (or URM's really) on this board, so i thought i'd show my face! i think it's a pretty cool mix too :)

stereotypes always come about for a reason. but i'm not azn (in fact, i only just figured out azn=asian), i'm irish, hahaha. But being from upstate NY, hometown= white: 250, Hispanic: 15, Black: 5, Asian: i don't remember any, Jewish: yeah, right; stepping onto the penn campus was a bit of a shock to the system. but if u did a poll (actually we have a few), you'll find that about 60 or so % of the people here are asian?

haha, it seems i come from a different environment. jewish: i live in a jewish community. asian: too many (including myself haha) when i went to visit penn/philly, i was like "wow, there are so many white people! i actually feel like a minority for once!" lol

asian sterotypes (at my school at least) - asians often are associated with:
xx
azn
p (fill in nationality here () ex: korean = kp)

i dunno if that applies to other schools though...i hope not

good luck. But penn has the highest proportion of Asian students in, like, the world (outside of, say, asia). So your cornellian friend, let alone the state school people, probably have a better shot ;) Plus, you'll have to compete with some of your friends that also get into penn

haha, that's fine with me. as much as i make fun of having such a huge asian population at my school, i NEED some asians around me. just not so many that half the school is asian and a common joke is that every asian looks alike (the first couple weeks of school, my ap gov teacher kept getting the names of all the asian girls mixed up - it was actually kinda funny lol)

yeah....like i said....honest to goodness i consider myself a URM. i really got screwed growing up just on the basis of my physical appearance. Then again, I'm not treated like a potential armed robber when i walk into the 7-11 (except in Belfast). But i thought about going to a historically black school, but I couldn't pay for it. I think everyone should take a break from being the minority or majority for a while if they can. So being around a much greater proportion of minorities could be a good thing. And for u, getting out of that asian element could be a good thing too.

the sad (pathetic/funny) part is, i'm not even part of the azn network >_< i think it's cuz i'm not krn, or have enough "asian pride" lol but then again, i'm not fully whitewashed either. ahh!! identity crisis!!

disclaimer: i love all my krn friends! i have nothing against them!
