if you apply to Stern with a specified major, is it harder to get into? I applied undeclared because I don’t know what major I want to pursue. Also if I choose to do finance in the event I get in, will it be harder to get into Finance due to the fact i didn’t specify on my app? thanks

@Isnamedmichael - It doesn’t matter if you declare a major when you apply to stern. If you get admitted into stern then I think you should have no problem majoring in any of the majors Stern offers. I’m basing my answer on everything I have read about Stern; but I am not a student there. I think that by your junior year, however, you would need to know already what your concentration is so you can take the required courses.

Isnamedmichael, did you apply to transfer into sophomore year or junior year? Have you had anything back from them yet?

Sorry, I sound really out of place here but could anyone direct me to the NetID link or explain what it is? Did some people hear back already?

I am a current freshman applying for placement as a sophomore this fall. I currently attend UC Berkeley

did anyone hear back today?

I just wanted to make sure, has anyone been rejected after getting their netID? I got fed up with not receiving anything in the mail, and tried it out. I was able to create one. Should I start celebrating?

rejected from stern - international applicant, got an e-mail today.

Has anyone not been able to login to their Net Id, but still been accepted???

accepted to CAS! So stoked, good luck everyone!!!
They’re only awarding me 50 units though, which I find odd. Especially because I have 3 quarters of language instruction but they only gave me 4 credits. w/e I’ll sort it out.

stats:
UCSB Sophomore
Applying to CAS, dept. of politics.
GPA 3.67-7 after 5 quarters (but probably 3.75-3.8 if you only look at my last 4 quarters. got a 3.11 my first quarter in university then wised up.)
SAT: 700v/640m/700w
HS GPA: 3.7-ish I don’t really know, this is an approximation, and is probably thrown off by senioritis in my second semester senior year. Regardless, its still a pretty good transcript.
EC’s: Lots of volunteer work in HS (TeenLine, if you know the organization), did a semester abroad in Guatemala my junior year of HS, various academic awards, summer job as a legal assistant a law firm for the past 4 years, noncompetitive cross country last 5 years.
Essay: good. I’d say 8.5-9.0/10
2 very good letters of rec (at least one was promised to be a “ringing endorsement”)

definitely petition that when you get here. what language is it? you can test out. you only need something like a 650 on the SAT II of a language to get out of the requirement, i think. you might need to take a placement test instead.

Congrats nyuberktransfer!

HMMM…
This process is killing me…
it’s the first time I tend to build my happiness over other people’s failure… (seeing people get regected ) I know, it’s bad

Let’s just pray…

mrsmile, what school are you currently attending?

Hey guys, how long does it take for the financial aid package to be sent to me?
Do I have to send the deposit for them to send me the financial aid stuff or are they supposed to send me the package regardless of my deposit.

Thanks!

Should I call NYU and ask them to give me a decision over the phone? I need to make my deposit for another school by the 15th, and if it takes them two weeks to send a letter…I’m in trouble.

you can check financial aid online on your netID i believe… and sethosayher call and talk to a admissions counselor. They will tell you over the phone if they have to so you don’t send a deposit. Just try to talk it out with one of them.

I GOT IN TO GALLATIN!!!

Found out today, my 21st birthday!

I’m drunk AND accepted!! yay!!!

…well I guess YESTERDAY now! haha

How are you guys finding out about the decisions? Did you guys get e-mails?

yeah, set, if you need to make a deposit to another school, they’ll tell you over the phone. that’s a special circumstance.
