2009 Fall Transfer To NYU

I spoke with Maggie, one of two NYU Gallatin admissions officers today. She told me my application was “with the admission committee”. I applied via common app and submitted it at 11pm on April 1st. I spoke with Jabril, the other NYU Gallatin admissions officer yesterday, who told me my app was at “the bottom of the pile” and that it did not have any bearing on my acceptance/rejection. I was also told my letter would be sent by Friday by Maggie today.

I had 21 credits, 3.71 GPA at a community college and 4 years work experience at a real estate investment fund. Plus 6 credits from Colo State in 2003. I would be surprised if I didn’t get accepted. And even more surprised that if NYU didn’t accept me right away and hope that that they would at least ask for this semesters grades, just as Columbia has. I am currently at Pace. Just took my last final I am looking at probably: 3 As, 1 A- and 1 B, this semester.

I can’t login to Net ID, but I have been trying.

This waiting game sucks.

Has anyone been told over the phone, there admissions decision that is not international? Do you get a package or email or what when accept? What do you get when you are rejected?

my stats kind of suck. i applied to CAS. everytime i try to login to get a unet, it doesnt work, so my heart sinks, last i checked was last friday. i havent gotten a rejection letter yet, so im still hoping that my app is just in the bottom of the pile and that they’re going to accept me. so i know how you feel! this waiting sucks .

gregv-when you get accepted, they usually send a big package in the mail. When your rejected, they usually send you one of those small envelopes.

I have a feeling I’ll go home and see a bunch of rejections in the mail today. I got my much-expected e-mail rejection from Stanford today, don’t know if I can handle anymore, though.

Sigh, still no decision from NYU. Really hope that I hear by the end of this month, because I have to deposit at UChicago otherwise.

UChicago is a great school academically but its quality of life sucks monkey nuts. My friend visited there and asked the tour guide “What do you do for fun?” The guide replies, “well it depends on your definition of fun. I like to read books for fun.” That explains it all. But unless you applied to Stern, I suggest going to Uchicago. In the long run you’ll receive an excellent education that will make the latter years of your life much better.

Since I didn’t receive any decision from Stern as of yet, I applied to Fordham today. What do you guys know about Fordham Admission this year? How competitive is it? That’s my only backup school, and I didn’t want to apply too early since they started sending out decisions on April 1. For business schools in and near by NYC, is there any other school in the same tier as Fordahm?

What’s all this fuss about NetIDs?

rejected to Stern

It suck though, because at the last moment I called to change my application for CAS, b/c I no longer wish to study business-instead int affairs. They told me it was too late.

anyways, good luck to everyone else!

@isnamedmichael
i currently attend Suffolk Univerisity. Somthing went wrong when I applied to schools in hs…
I really have to get in…
OMGGGGGGGGuhhhh

How many got in Stern???

What did you receive???

~transfer housing at NYU~

so basically, there’s 26th street, lafayette, greenwich hotel (g-ho) and u court.

when i transferred in spring, transfer students were used to “fill in” gaps in res halls. say there’s three people in a four person suite. . .a transfer gets that spot. i’m not sure how that works in the fall.

26th street

1st ave and 26th

it’s kind of far from subways and other things. buses go back and forth between campus and 26th frequently. very quiet. some of the dorms suck here.

lafayette street

chinatown/little italy. this is also the greek life dorm. lots of food around. near a major subway hub. 20 minute brisk walk to campus. near SoHo. lots of nice rooms here. the low-cost options are also nice. my room here is terrific, i have a walk-in closet and the bathroom in the room. i only share my bathroom with my immediate roommate. there’s lots of events for transfers.

u court

near 26th street. same problems as 26th street. don’t know much about it.

greenwich hotel

actually a hotel on the first floor. weekly maid service (picks up and dusts in the common room). in the village. west of campus. lots of things going on in this area. rooms are a little small.

check community.livejournal.com/nyuhousing for pictures of some of the rooms.

MrSmile, I’m wondering too. There only seem to be rejections now! How many people are there applying to Stern that are still waiting? Did you try to get a NetID?

For those of you still waiting, don’t give up. I didn’t find out that I was accepted until the end of May (last year). Good luck

P.s. and for those of you still deciding… going to NYU is the best decision I have ever made!

Greetings to you-- the all-seeing oracle at Delphi–MissamericanPie!! Any intel you have heard on Steinhard (MCC) transfer applications?? Sweating it out here hoping for the best. Think it is best to not call admissions or express interest by calling??? Thanks.

hey, who.

i don’t know anything about the new MCC transfers, sorry. you can call admissions and see if they’ve “rendered” a decision or not. that’ll tell you whether it’s in the mail.

How many people are still waiting for a decision here?

I’m 1.

also, from what i can tell, it apparently takes them 2 days after the decision to mail everything out. and then from there i guess it takes 2 days in the post office until you get it in your mailbox.

I’m also waiting for a decision. I called the admissions office and told them I had a deposit deadline for another school due this friday, and apparently they’ll get back to me in 48 hours.

Still waiting. Will be visiting UChicago this weekend and probably will deposit the following week if I don’t hear anything.

isnamedmichael, I applied to CAS, but I still really really really want to go to NYU!

I’m still waiting too. Luckily, I was able to actually create a NetID earlier last week… However, I am a bit worried about what 2good2b2rue says… Did they make a decision and take their sweet time to send out the mail? Or will I be the first person to get a NetID and still get rejected?
