2009 Fall Transfer To NYU

RSB, you got info on orientation?

Honestly, aside from housing documents, the financial aid package, and the acceptance letter, I haven’t received anything from NYU in regards to orientation, registration, advising, etc! :-</p>

^ ya i got an email asking which one i wanted to attend a few weeks ago.

I didn’t even accept and I got a pamphlet in the mail about orientation a while back.

what the eff.

I havent got any orientation info too.

It’s probably because I was accepted into Steinhardt and you guys different schools maybe???

yea, every school has different orientation procedures. along with that, i would assume most students choose to do advising appointments at orientation in august so the reason you haven’t heard about advising (during which you register for classes) is because you haven’t heard about orientation either.

if you’re local i would suggest setting up an advisor appt as soon as you can. i got better classes than i would if i had waited until august.

Are there any successful applicants who have had an F on their transcript? Is it a total death sentence for NYU? Thanks.

Good news for you guys who are waitlisted, I’ll be giving up by spot at NYU’s CAS due to financial reasons. They awarded me $8,000 in a scholarship and $8000 divided between two different loans. I realize NYU’s aid is notoriously known for being poor, but for a student with an EFC of next to nothing, this is deplorable. I’ll be going to GWU where my need has been met 100 percent.

Just out of curiosity, how scarce is financial aid for students at NYC? Because if a lot of students have to take out loans, especially since it is in NYC, I might have to reconsider where I place it on my transfer list.

When are we going to hear back regarding the waitlist?

Pyar-

“we intend to select students from the wait list to fill any openings that become available in the class. You will receive notification of your final status as soon as possible, but no later than July 1, 2009. Students admitted from the wait list will be considered for financial aid and campus housing.”

Hey guys,

I just tried to log in with the NetID, and surprising enough, the system did generate an NetID for me, I logged in successfully and I could get access to the NYU email account, does it mena I’m accepted to NYU? I haven’t received any emails or regular mails from NYU. I’m so anxious!!!

I’d appreciated your reply!!

I’d say your in. You have a xxx###@nyu.edu?

Yeah, you should be in, imo.

I tried the NetID trick as well, but no such luck. Does this mean I’m rejected? I’ve been told I received a regular envelope from NYU (I’m away from home right now), but is NYU still waitlisting people? I for sure thought I would get in, but so far as a transfer, I’ve been rejected from every school I applied to… :\ (Science major; 3.8 GPA, strong essays, and plenty of ECs…)

remy_enders: Thanks! yeah, the email account is comprised of my name initial and three digits, I wish that I’m really in!!

yn12: I’ve heard that NYU is sending first-class mail to accepted students, sorry to hear that, transfer is tough, and good luck! you will get into!!

Reading 86 pages of comments is literally unreadable so mind refreshing me on this? Has anyone been accepted to NYU coming from a SUNY school? Especially Geneseo? If so, what were your stats? Also when you’re transfering in for junior year, i heard NYU doesnt look at SAT scores rather just your college grades?

They want your HS transcript just to have on file, but they didn’t want SAT info. This was for Steinhardt but I am sure all the schools have similar requirements. I applied as a junior transfer coming from a community college honor’s program. I am accepted but I can’t go since it is too expensive. I really wish I could’ve, though!!! Good luck to you, blazin!

thanks for the luck haha. i have a question for you or any college student here, how difficult is it to obtain a 3.8+ in college? Obviously it’ll differ among people but any simple generalization? Any emphasis’s?

Blazin, I’m a transfer admit to NYU and I’m coming from SUNY Purchase.
I was a total wreck in high school and I BOMBED the SATs. I’m also transferring as a junior. If you have any questions, PM me.

It’s not hard to obtain a 3.8 in college. Personally, I think it’s easy to get a 4.0 if you fully dedicate yourself to it. The trick is maintaining it throughout the year(s), and juggling a bunch of EC’s during the process. Intelligence plays a part in it, but I personally think it’s mostly about work ethic and how much you put in.
