2009 Spring Transfers to NYU

i feel so out of the loop i didn't know about any registration, that's probably because i finally got my acceptance package today! it's dated december 16th so they really meant mid december for me.

Love3qualsHate- i really hope i get more than you do! i will be taking out loans myself! and yes i am MW1989! haha

i need to call them because when i send my deposit they will receive it when they are on break! i really would like to know about a lot more stuff before jan. 5!

tomorrow is pre-reg for gallatin kids

I got Water St!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love3qualsHate- you and duffle are so lucky!!!!! i am going to get the worst dorm, 26th! i just mailed off my deposit! noooo!!!!!! i will visit you guys....

whats up building buddy! apparently there are incredible views of the brooklyn bridge/empire state building, but i think im only on the 8th floor so we'll see...do u have aim love3qualshate? or did i ask u this?

yeah my AIM is Love3qualsHate but Im rarely ever on it! lol its my user name

Hi you guys applied for FA? The actual "aid" may be less rewarding after the whole tedious process of applying for an aid. You get practically nothing. NYU wonders why their endowments are low, but if you look at what they give their students, it becomes clearer.
I recently transferred out because my bills were totalling out over $31,000 a semester. No joke. And I don't even think their education was worth the tuition. Profs weren't
great. Good luck. pm if you have questions. or email me.

does anyone know when is the application deadline due for transfer fall 09 students? i am a bit confused and lost. i am currently a freshman and i really want to transfer to NYU for their business school.

Yeah FA does suck. I'm thinking about applying for a lot of scholarships. I spoke to someone on these forums that told me he made a goal of applying to a different scholarship every day and that by the end of the semester he ended up paying 80% of his tuition! I'll probably do that because the notion of me paying for my education sounds nice :D Then I can really say I'm independent instead of having my parents pay for it and then say something like I'm paying for your education so you have to listen to me haha (that's something they'd say) whatever though, I just really want to be over there.

BTW, how did each semester total up to 31000 if the year costs 52000?
31000+31000=62000...

rejected718- the deadline for fall is April 1 NYU > Undergraduate Admissions > Applying for Admission > Transfer Applicants > Important Dates

for myself, it is going to suck having to take out all those loans. i am being forced to be independent! haha
but seriously they really don't give out good fa and that is the only thing in my eyes that sucks about them.

?! Today is pre-reg for Gallatin? Ughn. Why didn't NYU tell me such things.....

OMG OMG

i wont let this thread die, i did my first event as an nyu student today!

i went for the pre-reg meeting to the gallatin meeting and wandered around washington square...i love that area, although the park itself (maybe just because its winter) left something to be desired...i also visited my dorm (although i did not go in it) at water street, and the location is incredible...the neighborhood is right in the financial district and a block or two away from the east river...incredibly expensive and posh neighborhood...

i also received the big housing packet today...anybody else?

dufflebagjesus- that is so awesome that you went to nyu as a student, not just someone who is interested in applying! water street is amazing the only bad part is the distance but i love the area, it's so nice!

i probably won't hear back from housing for awhile since i sent my deposit yesterday and they are on break right now. just a couple more weeks until everyone who was accepted is at nyu, we all have to meet up or something!

still have my fall transfer app sort of ready to go out... debating if i should send it or not..

already had the teacher evaluation sent and my SAT scores... they were sent a month or so ago, so they better still have them on file..

hmm...

read your app over again! and then another time! i messed up my app. for both freshman admissions and for transfers too...the first time i made some pretty egregious errors, this time i only spelled the name of the school that im transferring to wrong ("the gallatin school of individualized studies?!!?!)

Happy Holidays everyone! Can't wait to see you guys in about 2-3 weeks :D

hey guys. i'm a second year Biology major at UCI and would like to get out of her. my gpa is horrible, 3.3 and by end of this year will be about 3.45 -3.5. I know that many people on this website are transfer students from community colleges but did anyone here apply to nyu from a 4 year university with gpa somewhat close to mine? my chances are 0 right? oh i have lots of ec, which is probably why i have low gpa

ummm, most people on here are not cc kids...if your applying for fall 09 next semester grades won't count...if you're applying to nyu cas with a 3.3 your chances are not very good, id suggest you move your post to the nyu fall 2009 transfer thread

yeah the other kids might help you out more, but remember to not lose hope! Some people got in on here with a lower GPA. Believe in yourself and that will come off in your essay..you go to a tier 1 school and if you have great recs and great ECs then there is a chance...although it might be slimmer. I suggest to send in a mid year grade report...I did it even though they didn't ask for one and maybe it helped me with my acceptance (I don't know). Keep your hopes up though bro and if anything you go to a great school in a beautiful city so it's not all that bad! I remember wanting to o there out of HS!

Guys - Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I've been incredibly busy! (P.S. The Suns are up right now, Duffle!) Here is an update for me: I sent in my deposit about a week ago. I plan on moving out there on January 12; I think that's a monday? And, that's about all I KNOW.

I am able to view financial aid package online, but have not received the actual package in the mail. I am going to need to a massive loan in order to pay for school and room and board. If anyone knows how any of this works, please PM me, because I'm incredibly confused!

On an unrelated note, I got an NYU hoodie for Xmas today! When I woke up, my whole family, even my grandpa, were all wearing NYU shirts. It was pretty cool. Made me being NYU student sound all the more realistic.
