I tweeted Elks Scholars about not getting a notification. They said that they will email all applicants sometime next week.

@thesportsman24 - Thanks for the info! @NotSure2014 - My son is from MN and we’re anxiously awaiting news. If anyone has heard anything from MN lodges - please post!

I’m so tired of waiting. So tired of it

@mich5525 I’m in NC too. What lodge did you apply for? I applied to the Raleigh lodge and I haven’t heard anything. Do they notify everyone or just winners? Thanks! & Congrats :)

The ELK MVS form gives the following info : "The 500 National Finalists will be notified by email in late February 2014. To be eligible for a scholarship, National Finalists are required to submit a secondary application online, which will include an essay, teacher’s evaluation, college plans, and scholarships/grants/aid/awards received to date. Finalists will also be required to mail their Student Aid Report to the Elks
National Foundation office in Chicago. The secondary application must be submitted in early March 2014. Following the secondary application, the top 20 National Finalists will be selected to attend a mandatory Leadership Weekend with an interview component in Chicago from April 25-27, 2014. All expenses will be covered. In order to be considered for a top award, the applicant must be able to attend the Leaderhip Weekend. The top 20 finalists will be vying for two first-place awards of $50,000; two second-place awards of $40,000; and two third-place awards of $30,000. The remaining 14 finalists will receive awards of
$20,000. The 480 runners-up will receive fifth-place scholarships of $4,000.
National winners will be notified of their award by the Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation in late April 2014. Many Lodges, districts and states award their own scholarships through the MVS program. The ENF is only responsible for administering the 500 national awards.
This is taking forever… Anybody else heard anymore news? Everytime I call my lodge its someone different and it’s never the same answer when I ask. It’s seems like by now that they would have had to advance the local winners to district but idk. ABSOLUTELY SICK AND TIRED OF WAITING

@ajs2k14- I applied in Davidson County, NC. Today is the date that my district is supposed to make their decision. My local lodge person hopes to know something when he goes to statewide meeting on Sunday and is supposed to call me. I will let everyone know if I find out something.

l o l

i forgot i even applied to this -.-

@tennischicaxo- shocked that you forgot that you applied. My application packet was probably 20+ pages meticulously assembled in a folder and hand delivered to its recipient. Wasn’t something I would forget.

I mean, I wasn’t being entirely serious.

Just trying to emphasize how long it feels like it has been.

Plus, I’ve had so many scholarships applications and college applications in between…

You eventually lose track.

@tennis I know what you mean by lose track of all you’ve applied for. I has to make a huge chart of mine lol

Had* not has lol

My daughter applied for this and has heard nothing from our lodge. Just a simple yes or no would be nice. I can’t stand the waiting.

I would think that mostly everyone will know something this upcoming week. This is getting kinda ridiculous waiting bc my lodge told me they would notify us the very beginning of the year. That ain’t happened.

My daughter emailed the district office over the weekend. She asked the status of her application. The district scholarship representative answered her email by saying that all applicants will be notified one way or another by the end of January - whether they advance to state or not. My daughter’s application has advanced from local to district, but no idea if she will advance to state until the end of Jan. There also has been zero mention made of scholarships either at the local or district levels.

This refers to: Kentucky.

I’ve called my lodge about three seperate times and each time I’ve been told the person who knows about scholarships wasn’t there and to maybe look at the national elks lodge website.

Trust me, I’ve read that website thoroughly. It won’t have anywhere on it whether I advanced or not.

Needless to say, I’m getting a little frustrated. But I guess that means we’re all in the same boat.

I mean, I thoroughly understand that these kinds of decisions take time, but I’d like not to be in the dark about it all.

At least give me an estimate date! :/

I’m so happy I’m not the only one going through this! Got a tiny bit of news today…my lodge is finishing up judging this week and should have winners notified by the end if the week, or if not, by next week. And each local winner gets a $2000 scholarship!!! :)

Btw they didn’t tell me randomly, I had to call up there

At least your local lodge gives out something! My lodge does not give out any scholarships if you make it past local. Bummer.
